How would you go about doing this? Could you provide a link to this? What brick protection does the PS3 have? Will this void my warranty? ( i have one of the extended warranty's, its not for sony) Any news on the Dolphin emulator for the ps3? Off topic: did you ever finish your virginization guide?

Yes. (side note I would install 3.55 OFW before installing the 3.55 CFW just to be safe.) If it says you already have that FW version installed restart in recovery mode and install it again from usb.

So how do you use these update files? I've tried both on a USB thumb drive -> System Update -> Update from Storage device and it says "No applicable update data was found." I'm still on 3.50.

    Thanks.

Ok, some other places say create a folder called PS3 and in that folder create a folder called UPDATE and then copy the update files into it. This guide says root of USB device.

WiiHacks only supports backing up your own personal games, the ones that you own. Besides, this guide is for installing custom firmware on your PS3, not about piracy.

Hello there. Been on this site for a while and helped a few of my friends wih their Wii´s and I was looking to help a friend with his PS3 . Can you tell me how to find what SW is ruinning on his PS3 and is it just a case of installing the CFW from this tut. no jailbreak or any silly things that should be done before ? Is the backup app basically the same as the Wii just for the PS3 or are there things to be aware of? Can you brick a PS3? Hope there aren´t too many questions. I can see this is still quite a new subject or is the development of PS3 homebrew not as easy as the Wii? Thanks for now.
