[GUIDE] How To Downgrade w/e3 flasher to any CFW or OFW 3.55 or lower [ADVANCED]

HOW TO DOWNGRADE WITH E3 FLASHER TO ANY CFW OR ANY OFW 3.55 OR LOWER.

This guide is up to date, and works to get your downgradable nor model PS3 on OFW 3.56 - OFW 4.66 to any CFW. Including the new 4.xx+CFWs.
If you have a Nand model PS3, I suggest using this guide.
All files needed are linked in the guide. So you can download them and when you need them.

If you want to Fast Dual Boot OFW and CFW, you can follow this guide after you have successfully got to CFW.

You can also follow this guide if you don't have the limited edition, that comes with the eSata station. If you are using just the flasher, you will not have anywhere to plug in your hard drive.
But don't worry. When the guide says boot to XMB, just boot to the "cannot find hard drive" screen. Before you do Chapter 2, Part 1, Step 13, uninstall your flasher, replace thermal compound, rebuild your PS3, and then continue with the guide.

If you are having trouble, feel free to ask questions in the thread. I or another member will be glad to help you.
If having problems, you should also read through the E3 page on ps3devwiki. It will show you solutions to your ERROR CODES, etc.

I suggest if you are going to follow this guide, to take your time and read everything carefully a few times before starting.

Here is some important information that you should read. Some things in this spoiler may seem scattered, but need to be read. Just remember the most important thing is to get multiple, identical VALID dumps, before you start Chapter 2.

    READ THIS BEFORE STARTING!!!

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY THING YOU DO TO YOUR CONSOLE.

    Things you will need

Before starting make sure you have a nor chip model ps3 that can be downgraded. And never downgrade to a firmware lower than what came on your PS3 when you bought it new.

    Check your PS3's minimum firmware

    CHAPTER 1

Part 1 Install your e3 flasher

    correctly intsall

Part 2 Make some bios backups.

Update flasher - only needed to do first time

    Make some backup dumps

    CHAPTER 2

    Part 1 Downgrade

    Choose a method:

WARNING: If Minimum version checker said your PS3 can only go to 3.56, You have to choose noFSM Method and choose a. in step 13!

noFSM METHOD - No FSM dongle needed, and will not format your HDD :)

FSM METHOD = Downgrade to Rogero v3.7 - FSM dongle required, and will format your HDD

    Part 2 QA flag

    WARNING!!! POSSIBLE BRICK! READ CAREFULLY
IF YOU HAVE A MINIMUM FIRMWARE 3.56 PS3 AND FOLLOWED noFSM METHOD, DO NOT CONTINUE!!! YOU WON'T GET PAST QA FLAG SPOILER, AND IF YOU SKIP IT YOU WILL BRICK (RLOD)!!!

QA flag. Only follow if you did the FSM method, or if you installed 3.55_Rogero_Dowgrader_RSOD.PUP.

Part 3 Install any OFW from recovery menu

DO NOT INSTALL A FIRMWARE LOWER THAN WHAT CAME NEW WITH YOUR PS3!

Install any OFW from recovery menu

Now you are on CFW, and the first homebrew app I suggest to install is multiMAN 04.66.06 BASE CEX.pkg. Here is a beginners guide on how to use it: http://gbatemp.net/threads/multiman-...-guide.291170/
You can find all the latest homebrew apps at http://store.brewology.com/

What to do if you brick your PS3.

Hopefully everything went smoothly, and you are now on CFW. But if something didn't go right, whether it was your power went out while flashing, or you were a dummy and didn't validate your dump. There is still a chance you can recover your bricked PS3. If you do have a valid backup dump, you can most likely recover it.

To do so, follow this guide. If you have a valid dump and bricked, you can skip to step 6.

I would like to thank the users that helped me figure this out. I may miss a couple because they weren't all from this site.

    Thanks to

Man, Thank you soo much for this amazing guide! I was able to downgrade my PS3 Slim CECH-2001A 120Gb from 3.73 Official firmware to 3.55 then upgrade to Kmeaw 3.55 and I am soo thankful for your amazing guide!

I did bump into maybe 1 or 2 small mistakes in your guide like the "Check Your PS3's Minimum Firmware". In the second sentence it says
Just rename to PSUPDAT.PUP and place in a folder named UPDATE,
    However, it should actually say
Just rename to PS3UPDAT.PUP and place in a folder named UPDATE,

This has caught me slightly off guard but I noticed the mistake instantly and fixed the problem.

Other then this, I thank you once more Playerkp420 for your contributions Little by little, I finished downgrading my PS3 Baby!
At first, the E3 flasher installation gave me a Bios reading error "10001100" and I got soo annoyed by it, but then I took apart the PS3 a 2nd time and pushed the NOR clip as hard as a could until I heard a click and I even Taped two U.S Nickels on top of each other on the clip to provide pressure support. Wola! All works after!

Now, I will dissemble my PS3 and remove the flasher and I ask, besides all this, installing Multiman directly and 4.20 Spoof should work fine on Kneaw correct? Do you recommend anything? Thanks and God Bless ^.^

I'm glad the guide helped you. And thanks for pointing out that typo. I fixed it.

Multiman and 4.20 Spoof will work fine on Kmeaw. Install bdemu2_3.55.pkg, then install Multiman.
I would also install disable_cinavia.pkg, for that annoying cinavia protection when watching backups of your movies. Although the Showtime media player built in Multiman will bypass it, I think.
Also bookmark this page, and use as reference if you have trouble getting any games to work.

Should I install Last_Game_3.55.pkg? I am looking at this guide for Multiman on multiMAN beginner's guide - GBAtemp.netand it seems that it might need to be installed :0 You tell me though. I am still learning this big jazz about PS3 hacking XD

What kind of spoof should I install? Perhaps a link would be nice. Thanks >:]

The last game package is just an app that will load the last game you played. Instead of having to go into multiman and load the game again. It is not needed.
That guide is outdated. Install this Multiman 4.04.00. Then update from inside Multiman.

SEN Enabler-Disabler is a 4.21 spoof that will allow PSN/SEN access on Kmeaw.

This enable (4.21) or disable SEN access for your CFW, simply install *ONLY THE PKG FOR YOUR CFW* (CFW Kmeaw = PKG for Kmeaw) and run it in XMB, you will see the menu, first if you wish to continue choose “Yes” or if you wish exit to XMB choose “No”.

If you continue program will ask you if you want enable fix, and for disable in this screen choose “No” and you will be able to disable fix. At the moment of enabling fix, it will create a backup of your dev_flash files to restore and prevent RSOD

OMG! Thank you very much, playerkp420. Guide is awesome! I've successfully downgraded slim cech 2006a 3.56 OFW to Rogero 4.40 v1.02. And it's brilliant. Now, can somebody tell me, how to install Rogero 4.40 v1.03 CFW? Should I update directly from XMB or should I do a QA flag or something else? Thanx in advance.
