There are a ton of different ways to mod a ps2. I just did mine a few months ago lol. Decided to drag the thing out of a box in the basement and mess around. The easiest way is to give your memory card to someone who already has theirs modded. They can put the files on there, thats all it takes. The method I used for some reason has been taken down (probably because of age) but it didnt require a chip, network card, swap magic discs or any extra stuff. All I had to do was take the cover off, engage all the sensors that tell the console that the tray is open, then make an iso of a legit game, replace one file, then swap the discs at the perfect time. It took a few tries but eventually got it. If all else fails for you I can link you to the cached page I used. I still have all the required files, so I could upload to mediafire or something if you wish

awesome cjizzle, i have looked at a few 'tube videos. Won't be at this for a week or two yet. Once i get to it though, I will give a holler if i can't dig up the files needed.

I know this is an old post and I apologize for bringing it back to light, but I didn't think starting a new thread beneficial. Anyway.

I was hoping you could possibly tell me of someone/somewhere trustworthy I could send the memory card in to get the files. I have already had people say they will do it, and they just keep the memcard and I never see them again. I have tried the swap disc trick with 3 of the games on the list and it just doesn't seem to work with my PS2. I also joined a site that said they could do it, but you have to be an active member for 1 month and have at least 30 posts on the forum before you could ask someone to do files for you. I don't feel like dropping another $30 for swap magic discs, since I have already sunk $200 into the system, games, controllers, and accessories.

Could you just not time the swap correctly or what? The game I used wasnt even on the list. I just went thru what I had looking for an elf file I could replace. The key is to find a game where during boot (and display of the ps2 logo) the laser quickly goes to the outside edge of the disc and then back in. When it barely moves it makes it very difficult to time. I destroyed a few old games before I figured that one out lol
