Can't play burned games and help with IOS versions
Sorry for opening a thread on this forum which is filled with information, but I've read all evening and still can't figure it out.
A few months ago I followed the "Softmod any Wii" guide here to softmod a 4.1u Wii and it worked perfectly and used it to play snes games. Never tried DVD games. Now I grab a Zelda Skyward Sword burned disk and tried to use the "Backup Disk Channel" to play it. It say "DVD Read Error 1167".
So I search around on the internet and find someone who say that this version work with "Neogamma r9 b56" + "D2x cIOS Installer Version 3.1" + "d2x7 final". I manage to find everything, put it on the SDCard and try it. I enter the "d2x cIOS installer" homebrew application, and he say to select d2x-v7-final/56/249/21007 but I can't get over d2x v6 and 21006. Next step I tried to go in the Multi-Mod Manager (MMM) and install every d2x-v7-final wad I found in a pack on this forum, but returning in the d2x cIOS installer they still aren't available, even though I definitively have the files and installed them.. How do I access them?
Noob question alert: I don't quite understand what is this whole cIOS thing. From what I know there's over 255 memory slots that can be filled with some custom version of these IOS and different ones are needed for different games. What is the base and what is the revision? How many different "unlocked" version of each IOS version exist? Also, how do I know which one I need to activate for which game? How do I know the game don't work because of the wrong cIOS rather than another reason?
Is the "Backup Disk Channel" simply a renamed old version of Neogamma? It seems strangely similar. I start it with the v7 IOS still not loaded, but in the text at the bottom of the screen it DOES say "d2x38v7final (249)". Anyway, this time it say "Drive date 20081218" "Drive too new for DVD-Rs :(". Well that's not encouraging. Does that mean whatever happens I can't read DVD-Rs?
I would use a USB key but mine is 4gb and the ISO it 4.5gb. Guess I'll go buy a 8gb one, but only if you can confirm me it'll work with it. I guess I still need to figure out that change cIOS version thingy anyway?
