Xk3y Gecko announced
The xk3y gecko will enable you to make backups of your original 360 games using a stock firmware 360 drive. It will also let you extract the .bin file from the drive it is attached to for use with the xk3y. It almost sounds like a USBPro, Ck3, 0800 drive and probe in one. It is due to be released January 2012.
From The Artificer (main dev from the xk3y team)
"Disk profiling can be done with Gecko + any stock drive OR without Gecko and any 0800 drive. It's not magic, it just sends a _lot_ of AP25 challenges and records the results. A bit of SW magic in XK & it's job jobbed. So why haven't I released the tools?
-You don't need them yet
-It can only help Wasabi/Boxzii/C4E (boo!)
-You will have the Gecko before you need it (if you want it)
I have no plans to lock-in XK users, you don't have to own a Gecko and you never will
- You will be able to use built in profiles and these will be updated, less frequently as more ppl have access to the tools but I can update the list with every release if trusted sources send the data
- You can use the built in profiles or you can put your own in /games (this already works in 01.11B2)
- I will make sure XK is compatible with CFW profiles (then 0800 drives + XBC rips will work as normal)
- If CFW is very delayed I will release tools for 0800 users"
Im confused. You make backups with the stock fw drive and then what? You olay it thru the xkey?

From what I gather yes, the Xk3y Gecko is supposed let you extract your firmware .bin file and dump backups of your games onto an HDD using your stock drive. It eliminates the need to have both a USBPro/Maximus/VIA + 0800/Kreon. It is supposed to make 1:1 .isos with the disks profile for xdg3 games for use with the xk3y.
It's an all in one device. It also has its own power source, so you won't have to buy a CKI or any other molex adapter. At launch it will only support slim drives for key extraction and game dumping. I do not know whether or not Phats will be support via firmware update. They placed a little info for it on their primary page under "works in progress"
