have a 4.2u softmodded wii w/ your guide and was wondering, since i updated my HBC channel to 1.0.8 and its running on ios58, i can skip chpt 1 and head to chpt 2 and follow it from there, correct? i dont care if im downgraded to 4.1u, im updating all my ioss due to 249 refusing to work and ensuring maximum compatibility from the games i buy.
249 will work to load and install programs, but for running a game? forget it. ive been running my games off of 222/223/224/250, no issues as of today.. but id like to keep it that way, hence me wanting to update them all. i modded my wii with the 4.2 guide last year, around march i believe.
Alright so i followed the mod and everything went well. I just had a couple questions. I had 4.3u on my wii and now its 4.1 after the mod. Is that the way its supposed to be? and also is it possible for me to play games online like lets say goldeneye or call of duty? thanks again for the guide
I have a question regarding the guide. When I originally softmodeed my wii (still working up to this day) all I needed to install besides all the obvious stuff such as bootmii and such was about 2 or 3 cIOs but lately I keep finding these guides which ask to install/replace like 10 or so of them and that always makes me very skeptical since I am not looking to install ciosCorp or replace nintendo ones which are not necessary.
Is there a specific reason so many IOs are needed on installation other than ios16, wanikoko/hermes cios and maybe 2 or 3 more?
I'd love to have a guide which install the absolute bare minimum of ioses or at least that states the reason for each iOS installation.
Thanks for the superb looking guide.
A little help needed, I have 4.3E but DVD drive is dead and looking at the list you need a game to softmod.
Do i have an other options??
Thanks in Avance
if you know what you are doing just leave out what you don't want to have installed on your console (of course do not leave out important stuff like the systemmenu IOS when you are downgrading etc). This guide specifically installs everything needed to have a good/hacked wii setup. Find the cIOS FAQ (in post #1, second spoiler tag) in which mauifrog describes what this guide installs and why (e.g. patched and version changed IOS and systemmenu IOS). His setup of cIOS is just perfect and you install those currently stable, approved working cIOS available, but you are right maybe you don't need everything. If you are comfortable just leave out and install what you think is a bare minimum, maybe 249/250/222/223 ?.. The update pack is kind of optional, but wise to install it on a console which hasn't been on 4.3 before to get newish versions of the nintendo IOS set and keep compability to new games (playing originals from discchannel).
Or you find someone who can fix the drive you have, maybe it is not that damaged? (have you tryied to blow like 5 times as hard as you can in the disc drive slot?)
