So I have an issue with my reset button being broken, it is loose and does nothing when I press it. This becomes an issue at the Priiloader step. I was wondering how neccessary the priiloader step is or if there is any way to bypass the reset button part to start up priiloader. My wii is on 4.3u and it has already been softmodded but I have issues with the USB loader GX going to a black screen when I try to play a game. I use WBFS manager to format and load my HDD drive with wii games and it was working fine yesterday. So I decided to follow this guide rather than a video I saw on youtube.

and I'm not too sure what the priiloader does, but I guess it really helps your wii in a sense of bricking, so I would say YES, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

You can also access priiloader from the home menu of CFG. So you can access it to do the config for update-proofing the system without the need for the reset button.
Yeah I have a GC controller so the nand part has already been taken care of. So I can access priiloader from CFG USB Loader? I don't have that on my wii currently, I have USB Loader GX, but I'll go ahead and add that.

I then installed wad manager 1.7 on the sd card, i started that up and then i picked to load ios249 when it gets to the next screen. says nand disabled, I hit "A" and the controller turns off... i can't get past this. I tried YAMMN or something but after i launched that i didn't know what to do so I stopped please advise.
Are you trying to brick your friend's Wii???? Haphazardly following instructions could do that. Nowhere in this guide does it tell you to use wad manager 1.7 or yawmm. You need to read the guide again. It says to launch WiiMod from the HBC, not wad manager. Take your time and go step by step. Don't cherry pick or deviate from the instructions. Bricks happen that way.
Great guide there. I modded my wii ages ago but never really installed a brick blocker so I decide to finally get around doing that and while at it why not update the whole thing so I am planning on following the guide top to bottom.
I was wondering if it would be OK to simply skip Chapter 3 of the guide entirely? Ultimately my goal is to get the wii up to date in terms of softmod and then install the latest configurable usb loader and a forwarder channel (and any other apps I am interested in) but I'd prefer to do that manually myself and if I understand correctly that last chapter is just installing forwarder channels and apps.
Chapter 3 is just installing a base set of apps for people who may not know what apps they want.
If you know what you want and where to get them, skipping chapter 3 is fine.
What about replacing WiiBoot at the beggining with the latest 1.2 instead of the 1.1 found in the guide? I don't directly see how it would impact anything but since I am outdated on the scene I might as well ask.
I notice that the wads for all the forwarders are installed on chapter 2 of the guide. Could someone confirm for me I can delete the following wads before starting part 1 of chapter 2:
USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_4_0_AHBPROT.wad
USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v10.wad
Alternatively I'd like to know if it's safe to install the USBLoaderCFG forwarder given the fact that I already have 1 installed for the version I use (From the USB)?
It would be nice if the guide would have that as a separate optional section as I am mostly interested in getting the proper mods in place and the rest of the app installation I can do myself.
I went ahead with the installation. I did replace BootMii from the guide with 1.2 and also I ran all wads and had no issues with my already installed configurable usb loader. I skipped chapter 3 and immediately after I was done with Chapter 2 I uninstalled the 3 forwarder wads I did not need (Usb Loader GX, Wiiflow and Neogamma). I did the full thing (ios update and going from 4.0e to 4.1e as instructed in the guide) and had no issues with the process.
Perfect! All installed first time, problem free, thank you!!!! :D
