If HBC channel is already installed, that means HackMii has already been installed. Find a 2gb SD card and start at the spoiler entitled "Softmods with HOMEBREW CHANNEL installed" found in Chapter 1, Part 1. You'd also be doing yourself a favor by reading this first.
Thanks to all of you for maintaining this wonderful website and the containing treasure of information..
I successfully modded (not hacked :dft012:) my Wii and IT seems to work ok.
One thing about the media player mentioned in the guide WiiMC, it crashes and ios is reloading when some AVI files I play are ended. On other occasions it works ok and just plays the next avi in line. All from a HDD at USB1, the weird thing is that when I push a USB stick into USB2, the media player does not see the HDD anymore and only the USB stick. (and the avi when it crashed played from the USB stick). Any Idea why?
I use for testing purposes a borrowed HDD from from a friend on the USB1 port, it is a Verbatim 2Tb with wbfs files on it and it works (after some initial problems with mixed NTCS and PAL games and some USB loader GX settings adjustments) flawless.
I wonder now one thing.... is it possible to find an application that works like "explorer" in Ms terms which enables you to copy from one USB drive to another using the Wii. (for my media files for example) That would be easier than taking the power supplie of the HDD out and take the drive to another computer all the time pure for the purpose of moving my media files. It would be nice if this was possible using the Wifi to access a shared network drive as well. (one needs to have some dreams I guess).
I have searched Homebrew for it but I must have missed it or it does not exist. Anyone any Idea..
Since this is my first post and I got already drowned in all the available information ... a hint from where to go now would be nice
PS. a lot of Home-brew software I tried from the home-brew channel, did not work so well .
edit: Guess the questions belong to another topic, hence no replies..:o...and the Wii works well with the softmod so... will repost questions in another topic...:038:
Hello again. Upon installing the WAD's as noted does it automatically install the Wii shop update too? I tried to access the Wii store there now and it said I had to update it. If it did not install the WADs for the wii shop update, is it safe to download wii mod and the wii shop update and install it manually?
I re-formatted my sd card along with re-extracting the files and I am still having the same problem. Please advise.
You can download and install the Wii Shop v21 channel from the guide and install it by itself just fine.

Do you still have the sd:/wad/wad and sd:/wad/apps directory that you had before? If so, you still extracted it wrong. it should be sd:/wad and sd:/apps.

I know I did not put the apps and wad folder inside one folder but they still show up. Please help.
Interestingly, if i take the contents out of the wad folder and place them directly to the root of the SD card, WAD Manager reads it as sd:/wad and it has all my files. But in this case, the apps folder still shows up under sd:/wad in WAD manager but I know i did not extract the apps folder there. If I try to install all the WADS this way, it gives me an error as follows: Try with AHBPROT mode or an IOS with the correct permissions."
Thank you for your help.
Sounds like a flaky SD card. Do you have any others you can try?
Thanks for the answers llaffer
Im still having some problems to remod my wii cause i didn't find the correct full sized SD card to buy yet.
My question is: How will i know if a full sized SD card is able to do the process? I found this one in a local store: SanDisk SDSDB-2048-P36 SD 2GB. Do you think this model is ok to buy?
That should work. SanDisk is the brand we suggest people get.
I have followed the instructions shown to the T, the last thing it says is to format my SD then copy the "ap-v5.zip" file, I did that and when I go to run any channels all of them turn to the black screen and i have to unplug my wii and turn it back on to get back to the main screen, can someone please help me?
