Hi skellinator, thanks, yes, this exact setup worked before, and I can I see the Wii partition and games within when I hook it up to my Mac.
hi wii hacks,
i trying to softmod my wii using this guide (obviously). i got HBC installed fine. where im having problems (and it makes me feel like an idiot honestly) is in chapter 2. i swear im following the correct procedure and downloading from the correct links. ok heres what ive done so far. i start off with a freshly formatted SD card. i download the ModPack-NTSC-U.zip as im from the US, extracted it to the SD, and then downloaded the CIOS-PACK-V6.zip, extracted that to SD as well and then selected copy and replace for all conflicts (is this correct?). i dont need to download the IOS file as my wii came with 4.3U already installed (i bought it less than 2 weeks ago) so i skipped that link and i have no desire to update the shop channel at this time, so again i skipped this download.
i have the mod pack and the cios downloads on my SD card, and i run the md5summer.exe on mod pack first and come back with 1 error: it is the boot.dol file. after running the md5summer.exe on the cios pack i come back with 30 errors. after reading through this guide, i saw that i may have a corrupt download or might be downloading from a temp folder, so i deleted the temp folders and made sure they were both fresh downloads. again same set of errors. after looking further at the soiler section for what my card structure should look like, i realized i may be missing files: primarily i dont have an apps folder or anything that seems to stem from that folder. i downloaded the links again just to make sure i extracting everything, and i am positive that i have extracted everything from those files....still no apps folder. if i try to move on to the next step, ignoring the checksum errors, i just get a black screen and have to reset the wii.
so i am stuck at this step as i am failing the checksums no matter what i try to do. this is the part that makes me feel like an idiot. am i merely overlooking a step somewhere? is the download that is linked incomplete? was i supposed to have a blank SD card going into chapter 2 or was i supposed to put something back on it?
Try to download the zip files again and extract them directly to your sd card using 7zip.
MauiFrog, awesome that you're still around! Michael2016, skellinator, turns out it was my USB enclosure. Why I don't know. Works fine with everything else.
So anyway, now that I am up and running again, my setup hasn't been updated for a year or two. What should I do now to have all the latest and greatest updates and features?
Ah, reading back I see I need to do chapters 1 2 3 again anyway. Okay!
i ran the check sums on both folders and the cios folder came back clean with no errors anymore, but the mod pack is still giving me an error on the boot.dol file (says 'checksum did not match'). after reading the posts regarding this particular issue, people concluded it was safe to proceed from here. is this true? can i proceed from this step now and begin installing the wads as per chapter 2 part 1?
hi I've been reading a lot of guides and researching but now I'm stuck with this problem: I installed hbc and bootmii and I try to launch multi mod manager and I see the MMM menu but my controller won't allow me to navigate on the menu(to install wads and priiloader) and after a short while the menu becomes black with dots going upward(matrix style). So now I'm thinking the problem is because I'm using the new wii motion plus controller(conclusion after doing 2 days of research). I'm using system menu 4.3u and installing hbc and bootmii was a piece of cake(when I first tried hackmii I also had the wii motion plus controller not working so I'm thinking its that problem again). Now I just want to know if the problem is really with my wii remote or something else?(will buy an old wii remote based on the answers by you guys).
p.s. someone might have already posted this problem feel free to delete it if its considered spam(will browse some more for answers)
thank you so much
