Oxford Family Falls Victim to Theft at Vacated Home During Storm
A local teen stole a Nintendo Wii system and a laptop computer from the home
A local family that was forced to abandon their home for a few days due to no power during the latest storm fell victim to a local teen, who knew the family would be away and decided to rob their house, police said.
A 13-year-old boy broke into the home on Dorman Road during the power outage and stole a Nintendo Wii game system and a laptop computer, state police said in a police report. The boy's name was not released because of his age.
Oxford Officer Gary Soules responded to the call on Nov. 8 and subsequently discovered that the boy was a suspect in the incident; when Soules went to the boy’s home, he found the missing items, according to the police report.
The juvenile was charged with third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny. He was released to his parents and is expected to receive a court date at Waterbury Juvenile Court.
