I wanted to post this information somewhere so that other people could find it.
I recently got LoZ:SS and a blue WM+ controller (LMA-RVL-WR/Z-C4) and was having tons of problems playing it. I found this post which had tons of useful information, but nobody seemed to be in my position.
Since the controller doesn't work in HBC or USB Loader GX I followed someone's advice to use WiiGSC so that I could create a forwarder for USB Loader GX to launch a game from the WBFS partition.
It worked at first, but then it wouldn't work anymore. It would just go to a black screen and then restart to the System Menu. After HOURS of troubleshooting I finally figured out what the problem was. If USB Loader GX is configured to use any theme other than the default (or it may be problems with specific themes) the forwarder won't work.
TL;DR: If you are using WiiGSC to launch a Motion+ game through USB Loader GX and it won't work, try setting the theme back to the default.
Disc cannot be read.
Hey Guys, Massive thanks to everyone who has collated all of the info that has helped me over the past 12 hours I have been involved with Wii Hacking.
Just a question, wondered if anyone knew the solution.
I have the latest Neogamma installed, as well as d2x, but when I run Skyward Sword I get to the title, putting in a name, then the first cut-scene runs and after Zelda(?) looks away, it goes to a black screen and the within 10 seconds says "The disc could not be read. Refer to the Wii Operations Manual for details." Occasionally it has said "Please Insert the Skyward Sword Disc".
Could this be due to a bad burn? Or is it something that I am missing on my system?
Any help would be great,
If parts of the game work, but then other specific parts give you a "Disc could not be read" error, there's a very good chance you have either a bad rip or a bad burn.
Ok guys, this thread is SUPER long and I need some help.
I previously modded my Wii so I could play downloaded games, it worked but that was several months, I cannot remember what I did to do it besides the homebrew channel. I also know that I did not use the Twilight Hack or the Indiana Jones hack. My wii is currently 4.1u.
I got a legit copy of Skyward Sword for Christmas and I wish to play it. When I insert the disc it says I need to update to 4.3 but then it tells me the update has failed. How can I play my legit copy of the Skyward Sword on this previously modded wii? Should I just remod my wii and try it another way? I'm VERY new to this and I have zero idea how to get this to work.
So please, if there are any simple guides or anything that will allow me to play my legit copy of Skyward Sword on my wii please let me know. I just really want to play Zelda :(
If its already modded follow the softmod any wii guide in the tutorial section. Should work fine after that. Follow the link in the guide for having a homebrew already installed.

Thanks a bunch! It was indeed a bad burn, enjoying LOZ:SS now! :]

Hope it helps others who want the game copy loading from USB.
I removed all my WADS and updated my Wii and I also deleted all my other Homrbrew Stuff and I still can't play. It works on my mom's Wii just fine. Lately I've been able to get the Game's Disc Channel screen to load but, going past that I get an error. After I first got home and had dinner I managed to play up to the search for my Crimson Loftwing and then it froze and said the disc couldn't be read. Believe me, all my other Wii games from Twilight Princess - Super Mario Galaxy 2 work just fine. Maybe the lens is dirty. I should add that the game works on my Mom's Wii just fine. I even tried cleaning dust or dandruff off the disc.
Would using the Zelda Restoration Channel remove the softmod applications. Ex. homebrew, configurable usb channel, etc.?
Wii remote not working
Hi i followed this guide and everything works and loads fine. However when i sync the wiimotion plus remote it works for about 5 secs and then just does not work at all. Does anyone else have this problem?
