Video Game Releases for August 2011
With Summer Rolling on August is traditionally a fairly quiet month in the videogames world. Many of the blockbuster releases wonít touch down for at least another month or two but here are some of the more exciting releases for August.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Arguably one of the most anticipated games of the month is Deus Ex: Human Revolution. This is the third instalment of the franchise and it will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. So far the console version hasnít been reviewed although PC Gamer recently gave the title an impressive 94/100 stating that it is ďa game that puts almost everything else in the genre to shame.Ē
The popular mobile application is coming to Xbox Kinect through the Live Arcade service. Itís expected to take all the fun of the finger swiping mobile game to the movement based Kinect system, meaning you too can fail your arms around your living room and smash that Ming vase. There is naturally an option for multiplayer which can be undertaken competitively or cooperatively and whilst this may be one of the more basic additions to the Kinect line up, its simplicity could turn out to be its greatest asset. Making it a must have for Kinect owners.
International Cricket Captain 2011
It wouldnít be summer without the release of a cricket game and for true connoisseurs of the sport comes International Cricket Captain. Imagine Championship Manager only with cricket, and this latest addition sees all of the most up to date player and team statistics and players from the English county and Australian domestic leagues. Granted itís not going to be everyoneís cup of tea but fans of the sport will see the chance of taking their team to the County Championship title, winning test seriesí and perhaps even the World Cup as rather exciting.
Another sports game, Rugby World Cup
is set to hit shelves this month, just in time for the real thing to start over in New Zealand and for fans across the pond, expect the latest version of Madden
. For enthusiasts of the franchise, Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
will also be coming to PS3 this month.
Whilst the game releases for August may seem underwhelming there is enough there to keep us entertained for a month; particularly when Septemberís releases, including Driver San Francisco, Bodycount, Rage, Gears of War 3 and F1 2011 are just over the horizon.
