Now, one more thing then. I now know that hermes cIOS's are not needed, but recommended. I am trying to make an guide that will completely avoid using all the IOS236/d2x "installer" crap. A very simple one just using wads (that still works just as good). Is this possible to do with hermes included? Is there a place I can get solely hermes wads without doing anything with ISO236 or NUS Downloader?
I think quite the converse, our staff has been answering your questions to the best of our abilities. While it might not be the answer you wanted, indicating that getting answers is like pulling teeth is insulting. Bear in mind here, that you're replying to a what amounts to a dissertation that I wrote in an effort to explain things.
Trying to re-write the guide is ill-advised at best; there are reasons for everything done in there. If there were an easier way to RELIABLY install everything without risk of bricking, we would certainly have published it here. There are too many well-intentioned poorly written guides out there that cause many people issues. If you doubt this, please spend some time reading in the bricked section.
All the best-
Well, I was just making a little joke (the pulling teeth thing). Let me put it all on the table here. Do you know how many people would look at this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html and end up saying aint no way I am going to try that. This is because it's layout is a little confusiing. <==== I thought that your guide did that whole IOS236 install like in GAf's here: [EXT LINK REMOVED] Now GAF's is definitely confusing so....
That being said, the biggest part is that the guide is also incomplete. There is no section on how to play Burnt gamecube disk when you want to. There is not a complete section on HDD for wii and "GC" games. And there is no place that teaches the user how to update the loaders. I am putting something together that covers everything, easy as possible. And it seems that you guys did the whole IOS236/hermes thing with wads alone. That is what I was hoping for. But where is the place to which these wads are located nice and easy for offline install just like this: http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...oles-only.html
Neways, I am not going to be an idiot about this. I will give the TuT to someone on this site or something and ask them to fix it up without taking the noob/future proof factors out (and self reliability). Everything will be added to the SD Card by the user... What do you think? And where are derm hermes wads like in the pack.
Hey, I was going to revise that (the post that has to be approved?) -_-
Your post was moderated as it contained an external link & you have a very low post count. I removed the external link. Gamecube stuff is not included in that guide, but there are other guides that walk through Dios Mios and Dios Mios Lite. A small percentage of users are interested in this functionality, the vast majority are interested in Wii titles USB loading.
If you truly think this guide is complicated, it would be interesting to see what you thought of previous versions. Having done this many times, excluding the time it takes for a NAND backup, I can whip through softmodding a wii in maybe 15 minutes. It really is a lot less complicated than it seems.
Well, as I explained above: it's not that it's complicated (as at first glance I thought it was just like GAFS, which would be really bad), it's that it is so incomplete (and looks complicated at first). But neways, can you give me the okay to finish off the guide that I have almost completed to send to one of you guys? Maybe you would see how much more clear and complete it is. Although you guys would have to add things like hermes since I am not completely understanding where to get those wads. And you would have to take a few things out/update links in the future ect, you would have to add things like remove GC controller and stuff like that because I am not aware of all that stuff... It's all done by the user in my guide.
If you deny it, that would be fine. But I want to try because I have almost completed it. What do you say, and who would I send the TuT to if you allow me? Thanks
Sometimes the best person to helpa noob, is a noob
Cannot be true... Who on earth cares about Wii games? Couldn't help it...

For example, Game Cube compatibility. If a user is unwilling or unable to go the USB route (think Devolution, Dios Mios, Dios Mios Lite for SD cards), that involves a specific process. If you choose one of the others in the parenthesis, that's yet again an entirely different process. These types of things don't co-exist on a Wii all at the same time.
Yet by your logic because we don't include it in the softmodding guide, you view that as a failure. Can you see why we'd not do this? If you do not or cannot, much to learn of the Force you have, young Padawan. Short cuts either lead to a not-functioning-as-expected-Wii or the Dark Side...
I have one quick question for you, does a nand restore to right after letterbombing get rid of all the wads that you installed on your system?
and to your comment touche i think,
A NAND backup restore simply reverts your Wii to its status when you made the NAND backup. It's sort of like a Polaroid, frozen in time. Anything you've done to your Wii since then will be undone. If you installed wads prior to making the NAND backup, those will remain installed and a part of the NAND image. You should not restore your Wii via BootMii if it's only installed as IOS; if a boot2 capable Wii, then you'd be OK to do so.
