So i have been expirmenting with making backups off of my retail disks. My current setup is 4.3U with a GC2-D2B board. I started with extracting an ISO from my retail copy of Resident Evil 5 (Wii Edition) I then proceded to burn with image burn (@2x using a PIONEER DVD-RW DVRTD10RS 1.00 and recieved the following resaults.
RE5.ISO + HP dvd+rw = Fail...I got the "unable to read media" error in the disc channel. Although i figured this would happen as it was a dvd+r...it was all i had at the time.
RE5.ISO + Verbatim dvd-r = Fail "unable to read media" in disc channel
Now i do have one 16x dvd-r but am weary of trying to burn the ISO again as i am unsure if it is corrupt or if the discs where just crap.
Now my questions are simple:
1) does 4.3 interfere with the ability to play backups on a virgin Wii?
2) Is there a program (like ABGX) that can check my ISO for errors?
3) i see people posting up error codes...where do i find these? both errors i received were not accompanied by a code..
lol, you need to softmod to read backup discs, and if your Wii is 2 years old or newer, it will never read backups, you have to usb load
1. Virgin Wiis cant read backups
cool, now the pieces are falling into place....still working on the soft-mod, just waiting on the game to come. my Wii was manufactured in 2006

Agreed, the faster read times are where it is at. In the end i will go that route, but i was thinking in the mean time why not make some backups...i have abandon the RE5.ISO project (for now) until my copy of Lego star wars come in so i can load up home brew
