I modded my wii a while ago, and it's fallen into misuse. A while back, my sister decided to turn it on while I was at work, and now it seems to be bricked. At first my system wasn't doing anything, but I had my files on my PC, and was able to move them onto an SD card. Now that I have, I can get bootmii loaded up, but I get a screen that says "error opening nand.bin". When I look around my files for this, I come up with nothing...leading me to believe that somewhere along the transfer to my new PC and the crashing of the old one, I've lost it.
So, is there a way to save my system, or am I just SOL and it's bricked? I believe I modded it shortly after 4.2 was released...so probably October 2009, using ShadowSonic2's guide
Maybe something happened to your System Menu or it's IOS. It sounds like you have Bootmii installed as boot2 so hopefully it can be fixed without to much trouble. What is your Wii's region?
edit: It might be best for you to just follow this guide. Look in Chapter 1 and use the "Other Desperate Options" and then the "Boot2 Bootmii option" and continue with the guide from there (make sure you install system menu 4.1). You will have to skip the nand backup portion but make sure you go back and do it when you are done with the guide (that is if it works).
yeah, bootmii is installed as boot2. It's a NTSC (USA) Wii.
I tried that option, but it's not displaying anything, as well as the cBoot2 + Wad Manager...but nothing's coming up with anything other than the version I have stored on my PC. I tried adding in the hackmii installer and wads into my version (), but it doesn't make any difference....WAD manager doesn't appear.
I tried creating a new NAND, and it found 3 bad blocks. I used the ohneswanzenegger programmer to create a new one using it. My system seems to be set back to the defaults, missing all my Mii's and Downloaded games. I'm even having trouble connecting to the internet...which seems strange. Any way I can repair the nand I pulled out when my system was bad? Are my Mii's and save games gone for good?
you could try and cboot2 into MMM and install the wads that way.
So you was able to get back into your Wii by creating a new nand using ohneswanzenegger? If so then I suggest you reload the bad nand using Bootmii and lets see if we can recover that one. If all else fails then you can use the generated one and I will try to walk you through recovering your games saves and Mii's. JUST DON'T LOOSE TRACK OF YOUR ORIGINAL NAND!! All of you saves and Mii's can be recovered from that.

Removing mods with most likely make things worse.
4.2U cBoot2 fix
- Download this and unpack it to your SD card.
- Place SD card in your Wii and boot.
- MMM will hopefully start
- Scroll down to "Load another IOS" and press A.
- Choose IOS249 and press A.
- Scroll up to "Wad Manager" and press A.
- Press 1 to install all wads and then press A.
- Let it finish and reboot when done.
- Verify that Priiloader is still functional by pressing the reset button while powering on your Wii. If not then reinstall it.
You should also slow down a bit and wait for advice before proceeding on your own. You came here asking for advice for a reason. :)
When I try this using my new nand. I get into the MMM, but when when I try to load IOS249 I get a message saying "Not loading stub IOS"
cBoot2 has permissions to delete and install IOS's... I would goto IOS manager and delete IOS249 (which is a stub) then install CIOS249 (you need the wad from this site, someone should be able to link you as im not at a pc). once installed, follow krafters instructions.
got cIOS249 rev07, installed it, and then tried Krafters method again. Didn't get any errors, but it changed absolutely nothing so far as I can tell.
