Confusion with Wii Channels
Hello everybody! I am new to the wii hacking community, and I have been doing well on my own with using the guides from this site.
But I have a question about something that after all the reading I have done still eludes me.
Now, correct me if I am wrong, but there is a channel... and a something called a forwarder, two different things?
Basically I have some confusion about channels. Say I want to install a channel on my startup screen which loads an emulator. Thus far if I have not been able to find a channel installer (something like the one for SNESGX 9X, which installs the channel from inside HC) for certain emulators, ie. Gen Plus GX, SL Mame, etc. I I have found are .wad files.
The problem I am having is that you can only load .wad files from your SD card with bootmii (unless I am wrong), so that once the channel is installed via a .wad file, I have to have the SD card inserted into the wii, or else it crashes and restarts the system. I want to be able to solely run from my USB HDD. Is this possible, and if so, how?
Also, is there any risks when installing a custom channel/forwarder (I ask this because I am a little confused why there are not more Channel Installers for emulators out there).
Do I sound redundant yet? Anyway, Thanks in advance!
A little information about my Wii:
It is a newer model, only a few months old: White.
It had 4.3U installed, so I used the Indiana Pwns method listed in the guide written by mauifrog.
I am running most stuff from an external hard drive
