Linux Dolphin for USB Gamecube emulation?
I've been looking into running Gamecube backups for a while now, and thanks to the wonderful D3 drive in most Wiis these days, I'm hosed. The major problem I've found is this; in Gamecube mode, the Wii drops its USB support. Thus, you need a WODE or different drive to run backups.
I'm no code expert, and I've only been into Wii hacking for a couple of months, but I've been looking at solutions.
The Wii is Linux-based. There are even Linux distributions available for Wii.
Dolphin, a Gamecube/Wii emulator, is open-source and is available for Linux.
See what I'm thinking? To a non-coder, with no coding experience and no knowledge of the matter, it seems that a week's worth of work on a simple port of the Dolphin code would be able to give us USB support with Gamecube backups. I know there may be some hardware limitations, but Dolphin could be minimized to the bare essentials for running Gamecube files. This is really a temporary fix until IOS/mIOS hacks come out to fix the Wii itself for its Gamecube mode.
What do you guys think? I'd really like to hear from some experienced coders especially.
