Just joined this site to post a reply on this matter. I had the same problem as this for quite a few of the disc's I burned. I used three different types of discs all -R so no problem there and eventually I used ri discs which still gave me the same problem.
I even got the wii locking up on me as soon as I placed the disc in the wii and I tried burning @ all the suggested speeds (no success) so I read through this post and found the suggestion that Korimus stated, "Burn the discs @ 12X" and guess what i did and they are perfect and even the ones that would not even start I tried re-burning them and they are brill so a big thank you to Korimus for this suggestion and maybe this confirmation may help others. Thanks Again
I've received this error today, but come to find out I hadn't actually completed the full disc burn process. :D Ha.
I know you just joined to post a reply on the matter, but you should stick around, you'll find it's a nice little board community to be a part of.
I have a problem on playing DVD on my wii.
Being Looking in different sits for my answer but cant find any.
hope one or many of you here can help me.
My wii is version 4.0U and i was wondering how can i play dvd in my wii.
U can mail me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Are you trying to play back ups or actual movie dvds? Either way it requires Homebrew and DVDX installed on your Wii.
i have tried downloading DVDX but i cant install it. Even when i put Hackmii installer beta 2 into my SD my wii is unable to detect it. My homebrew is version 4.0U (I guess). N i recently update cISO 38 Rev 13. Previously i jus try putting the Mplayer, load up a DVD but it hang (lots of time actually), so i try uninstalling my DVDX and now i cant install DVDX and my wii is unable to detect Mplayer too...
If you've downloaded DVDx from the HBBrowser it want install. I'd know cause I was at one time trying install DVDx 3.4. So just launch the hackmii installer again by use of bannerbomb and re-install it that way and exit when you're finished. Make sure your SD card doesn't have your other channels in the same folder. Rename your old 'private' folder and when your'e finish rename it back to 'private' and delete the bannerbomb and hackmii booter.
I have already install DVDx but still i cant play DVD in my wii. It will jus hang itself again... lots of forum says that 4.0 is unable to play DVD yet and i was wondering which is true... sorry to make Things troublesome for you, is it possible for u to tell me what i should download, where should it (the link if possible pls), what should be install and step by step what to install and what to do...?
Thanx A Million (In Advance).....
After Re-installing dvd-x using bannerbomb, go to the homebrew channel and click on the cIos installer (version 38?) again. re-install it and it should work. You still won't be able to watch dvd's... but you should be able to play your wii games.

ALSO I use Neogamma backup launche v0.3. If you don't have that Application, or another backup loader in your Homebrew channel, or one that you've installed using WAD manager as a channel, then you will not be able to run the backup. (DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/?nwdltmvz3m4 : Put the neogamma folder in your Apps folder in the root of your SD card)
Theres alot of mis-information going around so I know it's hard to find out whats going on. Just be persistent and keep google on hand.
DVDX runs in the back ground, you need some kind of media player to play movies. MPlayer CE is a nice app, read about it here.
