I just thought of something (it really hurt! :012:). Do we even know for sure what IOS stands for? I assumed it would be Input/Output System because of BIOS, but is there any solid proof, like conformation from Nintendo or something?
No we don't. Could also mean internal operating system....or something entirely different.
This is the point I was trying to make though....
I agree. I used to type it with an additional s but then I thought about the stupidity of that. I never say BIOSs.
I understand you point, and it makes sense. I have said "IOS's" for so long, it's just hard to stop. Perhaps there is a sort of gum or patch I can wear to make it easier...
When I pronounce an acronym letter by letter, it sounds better (to me) if I add an extension to it when making it plural or past tense (like "s" or "ed"), even if it should still be covered in the acronym.
However, if I pronounce an acronym as a word (like BIOS), it sounds weird (again, to me) to add an extension.
Nice poll. I always said it like a word. IOS, cIOS. I guess it just always sounded right to me.
Lol, who edited the poll options? The Man is always trying to oppress us! ;)
When it's one, I go with IOS
more than one, I go with IOS's or IOSs
I have seen on other websites, IOSes and CIOs
Are you saying that somebody has changed the numbers in the poll, it wouldn't surprise me, wouldn't be the first time.
