4.3e update pitfalls?
Hi, have done a lot of searching and found lots of fantastic guides, advice and help on this site but I have a simple question.
Is there a downside to updating the system to 4.3e apart from the fact you can no longer play out-of-region backups?
I'm honestly not too bothered about that, all my originals and their backups are PAL so it's not really an issue although I understand from one guide I read that it can be reversed.
I'm not too sure if there are any other problems/issues with updating to 4.3e, has anybody had any problems with 4.3e that aren't there with 4.1e?

- You will lose most of your cIOS's.
- If you have an old version of the HBC, it will be deleted.
- Bannerbomb (both versions) won't work.
- You will lose Priiloader.
- Preloader can't be installed anymore (but it was replaced by Priiloader).
- Bootmii as IOS will be deleted.
- Bootmii as boot2 will be deleted.
- DVDX will be deleted.
- Patched IOS will be overwritten, and re-softmodding will be harder.
- Probably some more, but I don't remember.
He has a modchip...
the only thing he'll lose is out of region game playing
Yeah, I realized what section I was in right after posting. I figured I would leave it up, since the OP just asked for pitfalls, not ones specific to hardmods.

@joostin, good info mate. It doesn't apply right at the moment but it's very useful to know for any future mod adventures:)
@richardsito, thanks for confirming the out of region thing.
It's a bit moot now anyway since my wife decided to load up Rabbids travel in time for the kids and updated the damn thing anyway . I'll add anything here if I come across any other issues which may be helpful for those in the same position as me.
First post I know but this is how far I've got.
Bought wii 2 years ago second hand and installed wasabi dx. (set to PAL i think)
all back ups played fine no problem
started noticing problems with random crashing of metroid
NSMB would not play then realised the ckeeky little wii had updated itself to 4.3e
so far this week wii party has stopped working. (worked after the update, last night 1/2 hour through playing game it came up with not recognised then since then the game doesnt even show up on menu.
most of my games still work. DKCR for example plays fine.
teh problem rests with the games that have stopped working or dont work due to either not being recognised from the get go or games not ebing recognised after pressing start on wii menue, up to pressing a and b together.
alice in wonderland, (not recognised at all) was recognised but no longer.
NSMB (recognised in menu but returns to menu after pressing start)
Wii Party (not recognised (suddenly stopped)
LEGO indiana jones (works up to a+b)
most back ups still work like I said.
I'm wondering after reading a few of the pther 4.3e threads and seeing something about region issues that My back ups are wrong pal regions (didnt know there was any)
Ive been tempted to do the soft mod but for some reason I dont have smash, zelda or indi anymore :022:
wasabi dx on version 3 (tried to reinstall ver 2 but nothing changed)
never had to go into wasabi menu byt pressing reset then eject so gonna try but what do I do once I get that menu.
different dvd - disks used.
different speeds on IMG BURN so tried pretty much everything else.
As I'm saying, its not so much a help me post but a this is what I,ve found out so I hope this helps in the way forward with people trying to get the homebrew stuff back on with a wasabi chip.
ps has anyone had other chips with the 4.3 update but not had any issues at all?
So thread-jacking someone else's questions relating to the pitfalls of updating to 4.3, as opposed to your issues already @ 4.3 ---- hmm... seems you should post your own thread.
I thought Id covered these two statements/questions in my post and thought I was better doing it in what I believed was a very related thread rather than starting my own thread on exactly the same matter.

then what do I know, I'm just a noob...;)
