WBFS flash drive A OK, NTFS query.
Hi guys, firstly I'd like to say thanks for all the info I've received whilst stalking around the site. Up until now everything has worked as per the guides. However I now have a small problem. I had been successfully playing backups through an 8GB memory stick formatted to WBFS. As I have many more games I'd like to back up I thought I'd try using LaCie 500GB HDD which is NTFS. After following this guide, my USB loader (USB loader GX) can see my games on the LaCie HDD but when I try to play them the Wii just freezes on a black screen. I soft modded my Wii using the HackMii letterbomb method. How can I check if I have "Waninkoko's cIOSx Rev19+ or Hermes cIOS 222/223 v4+ to use NTFS" ?
The HDD is 'active' and the backups were loaded onto the HDD with Wii backup Manager (I didn't know at that point that you could use the Wii to rip straight to your storage device). Would using another USB loader help ? so far GX has played everything without a hitch. I perhaps should have mentioned that this process has been way above my level of IT ability and I'm amazed I have gotten this far !
Any advice would be gratefully received.
1TB ntfs wbfs problems Windows 7 Update MRT 1/17/12
I recently used WBFS Manager to format my 1TB ntfs drive so I could use it for my backups. After formatting the drive I noticed under "my computer" I could still access and/or view the drive because windows still recognized the drive as ntfs (I believe but either way I could still access it). Then I used wiibackup manager to transfer my iso and wbfs backups to my drive. Everything was going smooth. Then I noticed windows had an update so I checked the updates and noticed an update for "windows malicious software removal tool" (MRT) so I allowed windows to update along with this tool. And after my computer did a restart I noticed the drive was not accessible and when I checked wiibackup manager there are no backups on the drive it says I have 1tb free space. I am very frustrated with this. Was it MRT that deleted all my files or what? I uninstalled the update and am wondering how I should move forward with formatting my drive. I would like to keep my drive in ntfs format because that allows my to put files larger that 4gb on the hard drive. Any help is more than appreciated and if you need more details please ask thank you very much for your time.
