Black Screen - No Idea Why
I've been happily running the Homebrew Channel for the past year on a PAL Wii with System Menu 4.2. This has been mainly to use Gecko in order to play an import version of Super Smash Bros Brawl and to install the odd WAD here and then.
Recently when running WAD Manager I was getting the 2011 message. Running a Syscheck showed that the Trucha Bug wasn't present in any of my IOSs (not sure how that had happened), so I followed the tutorials on restoring the bug and also cIOS38-rev17.
My son had bought Metroid Other M and was getting fed up of loading it via Gecko to bypass the system update, so at the weekend I decided to install Priiloader. I had BootMii as an IOS and so made a NAND backup first.
The installation went well - switched off disk and online updates - and everything worked as normal.
Anyway I got a call at work today saying that the kids had been playing Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution when a message popped up saying that the system files had been corrupted and the game froze. Switching off and on again brought up a black screen.
When I got home I tried booting to Priiloader using On and Reset, but this continued to bring up the black screen.
I've a Gamecube controller and am planing on trying the SaveMiiFrii fix tomorrow (once I get my Nintendo screwdriver back) with the Metroid 4.3 update disk. I know I'll probably lose most stuff, but at least I may have a working machine back (and can then follow the tutorials to reinstall everything again).
I'm at a loss as to why this has happened. Surely if my installs over the weekend had gone wrong it would have shown up then, not several days later when the Wii has continued to be used.
Apologies for the length of this post - if anyone has any ideas as to what happened I'd be grateful (if necessary I can supply the last Syscheck ran on 11th September).
