An open letter to pirates…
(Please move this article if it does not belong here.)
Here at wiihacks.com we understand that piracy exists in regards to the wii. We understand that there are users out there who use the methods on this site for illegal purposes. We even understand that times are tough on a lot of people, and some may see these guides are free liberty to save money. Yet somehow, I feel it needs to be said AGAIN that this site does not support, nor condone piracy of any kind. To make a post on these forums, you must accept the rules that govern the site, which includes not asking for assistance regarding piracy.
Alas, I have gotten to the point that when I check the backlog of posts in the newbie section, I make sure to open any thread that has the locked symbol on it, because I become curious why it was locked. I wish I could say the ratio was 1:1 with piracy to YAT, but it seems more like 3:1 lately, especially with the release of Metroid: other M last week. I may be but a lowly “new member”, but I see a lot on this site, and this needs to be mentioned in my humble opinion.
I know many pirates have their own rationale for why they do it, and I’m not going to list them incase you don’t have any “good” reasons of your own, but you must remember that piracy is illegal for a reason. In this day and age of videos being pulled down for using too much copyrighted material for it to be fair use, no one here wants to lose this wonderful community that we build here because of piracy.
For now at least, what we do to our consoles is protected, and we love it. We are not here for you to have all of your pirate work done for you, in fact, that’s what failtube is for. Before asking for help here with your pirated material, follow a fail tube video and see what happens, because you get what you pay for.
Thank you for your time…
