I have a not working Wasabi in a fake Wii-Clip. I found out with the help of their fake or original website
Now my question:
Is a fake Wii-Clip as good as an original one?
Or are they working for almost every install, just have a lower production quality?
Or are they don't even work at all? Just lookalike the originals?
Anybody here with a fake Wii-Clip, that works without problems?
I'd like to find out, why my wasabi will not work.
no its isn't even good for ur wii the clip could bend your processor pins on the board and it could kill it cause the pins are bend
the best option is solder it on the wii if the wasabi is real
a picture could also help
does this help??
yes helps, thanks. I think 2 or 3 of the pins are already a little bend, because I had to remove the Fake Clip two times to check everything.
You can see a picture and the full story (me silly stupid damaged bridge 2) at my other thread: wasabi-v3-wii-clip-v5-green-light-but-no-dvd-spin-up.
Still the question: Does anybody have a fake Wii-Clip that works? Maybe even a V5 Wasabi on a D2C?
Soldering the Wasabi directly to the Wii will be my last choice.
hi i had 2 fake clips that did not work bent pins etc new dvd drive 3 clips later i got d2csun and clip they dont make fake clips yet for d2csun im told
wow sorry to hear you go a fake clip, to be safe always check the wasabi reseller list and the wii-clip reseller list. or whatever chip it is you are purchasing.
Make sure you are soldering F from the clip to F on the wii drive board since its a v5 you have. Also the damaged #2 nees to be fixed or it wont work. You should be able to fix the trace and connect it to ground.
first thanks to the reply, hope you will be healthy again soon.
Yes no problem, F to F on M/B is soldered.

seems to be ok. perhaps you can flux the points and retouch them, it may help.
triple-checked the #2 connection and refluxed both points, they now look nicer than before. Quadrupel checked that both points from bridge #2 are connected to GND.
But still same error: Without Wii-Clip DVD-drive spins up and recognize every original. With Clip connected, wasabi goes very short red, than solid green. But drive wont spin up and says shortly after: Error occured, please eject disc.
Again checked that every connection from wasabi to clip is OK and that no neighbour connection has a short-cut.
Maybe the fake V5 WASABL Wii-Clip is the problem...
I would be giving up on the fake clip, look for a v5b if you do get a replacement. or you may want to consider getting a 6 wire wiikey2 , they are quite easy to install as there are no ic connections.
Right, already spend way to much time debugging the error. Will go for V5B. Or at last chance solder wasabi directly to mainboard. Thanks for helping!
