thanks for the reply,
I somehow managed to extract the files from the nand file and looked into the file u told me and found some files but they were different from the ones in the wii. i copied some save file from my wii to sd and found out that the files are named with 4 letters and inside them a file named data but the ones i got from nand were named like "524d4745" and inside them 2 files named as "content" and "data" inside "data" are files like "banner" something.dat and some of them are empty.
I'm not sure how to get the original save files from those or are they just junk and the back up was not good ?
I'm really sorry for the multiple questions and any help will be much appreciated

Ok, figured out compiling Wii stuff.
The offical Comex version doesnt have the reading of current serial etc.
If anyone knows who wrote this modification please post or PM me as the source code should also be available.
a couple of questions before I try this.
1- is this strictly a wii menu restore? or will I lose all my game saves stores on my console also?
2- I have a ton of vc games on my sd card, will they work afte all is said and done or will I have to install with the wads all over again?
3- I'm on 4.2, does it matter that this is a 4.1 formatter?
my wii has been giving me this issue, even when it was still a virgin
when i boot up the system, one of 3 things happens.
1 nothing loads, the screen stays black. wiimote stays connected, I can power down with it.
2 health and safety screen comes up but "Press A to Continue" never comes, requiring me to power down the console (wiimote desyncs)
3- wii menu loads perfectly fine.
it's a launch wii
You lose everything as it formats the NAND. You will need to redo everything.
If you follow the guide and backup your nand first, you have nothing to lose. If your issues remain and the format didnt help, you can just restore your backup and be back to how you started.
ok I'm gonna give it a shot. last couple of qs
is there a way to backup my mii ch without having to transfer to wiimote? if I move my mii ch to sd would that save the miis?*
also my address book? can I backup? and last, is ssbb friends list stored on ssbb save file or the NAND?
Not really questions for me, I generally don't repair Wii's to keep their info, I mostly buy broken Wii's to repair and wipe (so saving stuff isnt my concern) to sell for parts.
Maybe someone else will have those answers for you.
There are homebrew apps to save you miis to sd card and restore them. Mii extractor
