Usb Loader HDD problem
Okay.. so I have this 500GB external hard drive (My Book Home Edition). I didn't want to use the whole thing just for game backups so I partitioned it. First I formatted it as fat32 then I partitioned it so that 80GB was WBFS (formatted in WBFS manager) and I made the WBFS partition first and active. When I tried to start the USB loader on my wii though, it didn't work (USB loader GX) so i ferked around with it trying to get it to work and eventually found out that if I unplug my hard drive power and usb, then plug it back in it works just fine. I have to do this every time I start my wii. Is there anyway I can fix this, or am I just out of luck?
P.S. Sorry if i posted this wrong... i'm kinda a noob w. forums. :p
It may work with different loaders or different revisions but failing that it is just down to the HDD.
Thanks. I figured it was just my HDD so I looked around and it seems like alot of people have the same problem with it.
Hmmm did you get your FAT32 section to work?
Wiiflow wont read from there for some reason..so i still need to have the memory card in use
That problem usually only happens with HDDs with an external power supply. The only way that I have had my Seagate 1TB to run properly was by using Seatools to disable the hdd from going into standby, it doesnt solve the problem completely but it does minimize the occurrences. It's best to use (when you can) a hdd that runs only from usb, so far those types haven't caused as many issues as the hdds with an external power supply.
Well actually, my HDD is only USB, no external power supply! and i still cant get the FAT32 section to read!
I copied the SD card straight onto the FAT32 section, so i know it isnt the folder structure..
Do BOTH the WBFS and FAT32 partitions have to be set as active!?
and only the WBFS set as primary?!
the guide is quite specific!
For your issue, I would suggest using PartMagic to format your fat32. I formatted a fat32 part on one of my hdds for Xbox 360 reasons, but I also used that same partition for gx and wiiflow stuff, and all is well.
You think the program i used could make the difference?
EASEUS partition manager is what i used...hmmm i will try reformating just that partition..
