I just bought a 1.5tb Seagate Free Agent. It was only 60 dollars, so it was an impulse buy. I got it for my ps3. Ps3 games are huge and when I try to transfer a large file over the hard drive goes into sleep mode. I'm gonna try this. But I have to say that I am unimpressed with this drive so far.
Does the harddrive full spin down or what? How do you know that the harddrive is in sleep mode? I ask because I seem to be having harddrive sleep symptoms but my drive is still spinning. It is as if all communication is lost to the drive after about 15min of playing any game...
My Seagate GoFlex FreeAgent 1Tb is KILLING ME!!! I can get games to play just fine, but a few minutes in, and the drive goes to sleep. No lights. I've used the Seagate Manager to disable sleep mode, but it still does it. Is there a way to disable sleep mode manually by chance? It's seriously driving me insane...
The link in post #1 will fix that.
I used it before posting here, but no dice. Still goes to sleep on me.
you changed the power settings?
I believe there is a never sleep option you can set it to.. if you have and you still have issues maybe your drive is dying on you...
I set it to never sleep, and the drive is only a few weeks old, so I'm not sure what to think about it.
Try hooking it up to your computer and going throught the control panel instead of the hdd util
Click "Start" and click "Control Panel."
Click "Power Options."
Click "Change Plan Settings" and click "Change Advanced Power Settings."
Click "Hard disk," click "Turn off hard disk after" and select "Never."
oh and what model is it?
Adjust drive power management/sleep interval
FreeAgent Go (classic)
