I modded the Epoxy D2E Chipset with the D2PRO9 successfully.
Pictures and video will come later tonight when I get some time to transfer them.
The chemicals we needed we could not find so we were left with the heatgun option as the only solution. We tried doing it the same way we do the hitachi 0079 epoxy but it failed ! This epoxy was much harder than the 0079 drives, so it was my fear that it would fail. Perhaps we needed a heatgun that could output more heat, because we did notice it did have some impact but not enough to flake it off like the 0079 drives.
So not wanting to waste anymore time it was time to file it down. I accidentally ruined the h point , so at this point I immediately put it back together to see if it still worked. Still worked , phew :) (I fixed the trace points aftewards just in case).
Since I connected it to the drive again I didn't want to take it apart and use the alt points on the backside so i filed along the top of the ic. added the wires there and success !
Booted up first time no problems with mario kart. This is a D2E drive so I used the D2PRO9 V3 on it.
Next time it will be much simpler to file along the sides of the IC from the start and skip trying to expose the G/H pads. Just solder to the IC directly.
waaaaiiiiittttt........you mean I can use the dremel on the top of the chipset to access the points for the G and H just like the cut leg D2B?

yes you can, but the way i did it you dont need to dremel the ic at all, pics will speak for itself but ill go into detail how to anyway :) I used a heated file, i could have used dremel but didnt want to risk anything.
Curious to see that video or pics. Definitely puts a dent in the WiiClip for the future-manufactured consoles. Congrats on making it happen.

Well I still think the only choices are between Wasabi and D2Pro - the epoxy is a no brainer and will only stop the DIY and Wii-clip modders.
For a pro modder - it just adds 5 minutes, as you dont need to remove all of it

Using a dremel should be no problem for people with steady hands as you don't need to remove all of the epoxy. Or you could do what Spyman did and use a file (good thinking).
Well one thing is for sure, nintendo really brings out the creativity in people in more than one way :D
