I had it working by extracting single stages, but now I get a black screen right after the screen where you pick how many players you want... idk why.. I didn't change the entrances or exits. I'll keep trying though. I also read somewhere about a "Newer super mario bros wii" project.... Hope that will be better than what Im coming up with lol
i had that happen when i changed more then one stage make a copy or the clean copy and insert the arc files with wii scrubber.....
(it worked i changed stages 1-5 when i changed six kept giving me black screen so i did what i said above)
1) extracting the .iso directly from USB with Wii Backup Manager 0.3.4, giving another ID with WIIISORenamerv3 => OK
2) replacing 01-01.arc with WiiScrubber => OK
So I am now all setup to start building and testing new levels.
Great guide! Thanks!:D:D:D
@own1970 Glad you got it working.
@snyper Try what Cile suggests and also keep the number of stages down to a minimum at first, just to make sure it's loading properly. Then once you get the hang of it go nuts. :)
And yes I've been following the Newer project for a while now and it's really coming along. Here's a teaser vid in the announcement thread: http://www.wiihacks.com/customizatio...tml#post331108
Ok... im lost at "Replacing and Reparsing" what do i do w/ wiiscrubber and all that? (im a total noob to this)
Time for some giveback from me :p, ***uming you did read the guide which is really self-explanatory.
***ume you have a new level, either build from scratch, modiefied original or downloaded and want to make the world 1-1:
Make sure your new level is called 01-01.arc
Open your .iso in WiiScrubber
Expand "partition0" and next "stage"
Right-click 01-01.arc and choose "replace"
Select your new 01-01.arc file
Done, your ISO is ready for transfer to your USB disk
Is there a way to import an original arc file back into the list? I was letting my son "make new levels" so he says . Anyway he filled the entire screen with blocks and saved it LOL. I deleted the level instead of just undoing his save. I tried deleting/reinstalling Reggie to no avail. I was thinking to use wiiscrubber to extract the original arc file, but cannot figure out how to import it back into the world 1 level 1 file. I got as far as saving it to extras in the textile folder as 1-01.arc. When I open it as file name world 1 level 1 I just get a blank canvas, like new file option. I can still make it work the way I have it, but would be nice to have it back in place. Will I have to do the extraction via sd/original disc again?
Edit.. I borrowed the original to do the extraction, I am going to try and just replace that arc file on sd and see if that works.( so as not to bug my buddy for the game again , at least not so soon) I will post results here in case anyone else has this issue at some point.
Haha kids will be kids, eh? So what you need to do is get ahold of the original 01-01.arc file. If you don't have that backed up anywhere you'll have to dump it again unfortunately, but it shouldn't take too long. Then open up the ISO in wiiscrubber and select Partition:X DATA -> Stage -> 01-01.arc then right click/replace that file with your fixed 01-01.arc file.
Should get you going again.
Yes I have a backup of the game itself, I'll have to put it on hdd and extract it back to pc as an iso. So will copying that back over to my sd work? I am giong to make a backup of the stage folder on my fat partition(hdd). I was just telling my wife earlier I needed to do that, Grrrrrrr. Just abt 2 hrs too late though:D
