I just did this with my 4.3 modded Wii and it worked. I replaced the 4.2 menu with the 4.3 wad downloaded with Nus. Everything worked until the end when I tried the Bootmii Hackmii thing but it said those were already uninstalled anyway. Formatted system memory, no problems. Ran the update from Nintendo which gave a message saying if it had been modded and it applied the update it could cause it not to work, updated and no problems.
First abig THANK YOU for this guide it worked great. I have a problem that came up after your guide was made and was wondering what the best course to take. I modded a friends wii and then he didn't want i t in any more so I used the guide and took it out. But he was playing black ops and wwe had to put a new shopping chanel in to get the update, which I did. I did not remove this and I didn't format the system when I was done. Well he went up to get the update and it gave him an error code and he said it was black flagged. If i remove the wad I put in and then format will it put the original shopping chan back in? I also did a nand backup of the system before we ever did anything to it . Can I just put that on a card and have it restore that, or what are my options to calm him down. Thank You in advance.
just a question,
early in this thread someone asked, "what would happen on 4.2 if they just did a system memory reboot.
The reply was, something along the lines of.."it will not get rid of it properly and Nintendo would find it.
Well my question is, "i dont intend to send it to factory, just to sell it privately, so could i just do a simple memory clean"?
Mainly because it is that long ago, I have no idea what I actually have installed.
so really guys, just need a simple wipe to sell, have "homebrew channel, (nothing in it), and disc player.
so guys any help would be appreciated.
But now i was wondering if i could softmod it with the exact same tutorial.Because my sister got a new one and i would like to have the hombrew channel since i don't need to worry of her making a mistake.
QUOTEDo not use this guide to virginize your wii just so you can resoftmod it again because you "messed up" or something... Some people think thats a good idea but its NOT (you will just take a chance at bricking your wii)... If you have to resoftmod just start over on whatever guide you were following and the old stuff WILL BE OVERWRITTEN!!!QUOTE
I know you said there was a chance of bricking but is that chance really big or not too much to worry.
BTW is the tutorial on your sig.
Hmm, so let's say that I was in the process of hacking my Wii like a year ago and I stopped somewhere in between... If I started to Re-Virginize it, would it increase the chance of bricking it? Or should I re-softmod it since it resets everything? I'm really discouraged because of how much crap I had to fix when I first soft modded, so that's why I stopped.
I was hacking it when it was 4.2 and never updated it, so it's just... blah.
If you want a modded wii in the end then I would just use the mod any wii guide. This guide is if you want to remove everything for good.... As you stated it writes over everything.
I think I remember you were using Shadows mod any 4.2 guide?
I just wanna wipe it back to factory settings, I'll be getting rid of my Wii soon.
I tried dl'ing the "Pack 2" and "4.2U", but when it links me to Mediafire it just shows the title of the download with a loading bar. I've been waiting awhile now.
Hiya, I've got a 4.2E wii thats been virginized following your guide, everything seemed to go without a hitch. I restarted it and found that the disc channel wouldn't update at all, do you have any suggestions howw to fix this?
