I can play Wii backups when ripping them from a retail disk using USB loader GX.
for a "pretty old" wii (possibly chipmodded) playing with backups and resulting error-1208, apply Gecko_1.9.3 may solve the problem.
yet, dvd-r is highly recommended.
i occasionally used dvd+R, it worked but not as smooth as -R's.
Your Wii is not capable of playing backup games from disc. Easy test: In the latest NeoGamma, remove disc from the drive and select launch game from disc. You will get a read error. If it doesn't say anything about your drive, then it should capable of playing backups.
How do I tell the models apart using the serial numbers?
This was the wii I had in mind: Nintendo Wii White Console (used/works well) - eBay (item 320701722905 end time Jun-18-11 12:59:52 PDT)
I had some Fuji DVD+R (burner said it is RITEK-1). Image was burned and verified successfully, but when I try to load it with NeoGamma, says DVD error, it ask whether " Is Drive connected :-(:-". So, my DVD's are crappy, need to buy recommended brand?
I followed this guide exactly, two times but I cannot get Gamecube Backups to load in Neogamma. Neogamma loads up the disc, can recognise the title but just freezes up at "Launching Game".
As I said, tried the who process described in the guide two times with exactly the same result.
I then installed GameCube Backup Loader and this works fine??
Any ideas...I would like to be able to launch games from the Neogamma channel...or install a wad for GameCube Backup Loader if anyone can find one?
Wii on 4.2E, softmod, USB Loader GX, Bootmii, Prrloader etc. all installed and fully functional.
Only other point of note..this is a black wii with the drive replaced to allow backups.
