Nintendo will reveal the MotionPlus accessory at this year's show.
July 14, 2008 - Players wondering if we'd ever see a true 1:1 experience on Wii need to wonder no more, as Nintendo announced today a new plug-in peripheral for the Wii remote, currently called Wii MotionPlus. Details are sparse so far, but Nintendo revealed the first snippets of information in a press release this morning. The following statement is -- in its entirety -- Nintendo's announcement of MotionPlus for Wii:
"Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo's commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing."
What we don't know, however, is how exactly MotionPlus will work with nunchuk controls, as the peripheral would need some sort of pass-through in order to give 1:1 motion to titles requiring analog control. The first shot above shows a small plug in the bottom of the attachment, which looks to be covering just such port, but we'll wait on Nintendo to give the final confirmation. Will we see first-person shooters that can make use of this technology? Will LucasArts find a way to adapt the upcoming Clone Wars game to include true 1:1 lightsaber technology, or could Nintendo beat them to it with a pack-in Link's Sword Fighting game (or news of a new Zelda Wii) to showcase MotionPlus? Will some sort of future "Wii-mote 2.0" automatically include MotionPlus, removing the need for an additional add-on peripheral? We'll have to wait and see how exactly the new technology works, and all signs point to Nintendo's keynote just 24 hours from now.

That's pretty interesting, eh? Suppose it was a matter of time before Nintendo released a Wii Remote hardware update.
New attachment and it looks like a new wiimote condom is used. Personally, the wiimote silicon protector...not used by me. It complicates things and adds more slippage when the hands get sweaty, from play. Not compatible with any attachments like the Nyko Perfect Shot, Zapper, Wii Wheel, or any other attachments.
As for the new Motion Plus:
an amazing feature for the wii or a peace of junk sold to make more money...or both.
we'll see Ninny, we'll see.
i actually like the gloves Nintendo ships with the controller mabe cuz my hands don't get sweaty and they protect the controller from scratches and damage of droped
as for the hardware i think it will be built in to the new controlers so u will be forced to pay on matter what if you want to have the best experience with the newest software <games>
Guys i have found a wireless nunchuck from this site. Divineo.cn - Product Information
Never heard of a wireless nunchuck but could this be the way of linking the two?
I got one from walmart that looks a lot like this made by Intec. It works well. It charges itself off of a USB charger you hook into the back.

when this new motion sensor gizmo comes out I guess I'll have to use my wired nunchuck.
By the way, I think this add-on will be wicked and hope there are lots of games for it.
IŽll se if iŽll get the motion plus, seems like i have put down a fortune on accesories. Wait and see what games use it...
so this will definitely not affect older games wit the new motion sensor, which sucks
but i guess id like to see what new games use/abuse this and really show the potential it could do
So any news on it yet? I know its coming out with the new Tiger Woods and the official release date is supposed to be June 8th but how does it work? Is the back attachment just another sensor that can pick up from left to right or up to down? or does it give it more dimensions? Info much appreciated ^.^
this isnt a new wiimote, just another accessory we need to buy to our endless collections.
