wiiflow 2.2 can use ntfs it has read/write capability...you can even load and store wiiflow files on ntfs hdd....
but fat32 is for everything
So I'm safe using the NTFS? I already loaded all my wii games to the WBFS drive, and extracted them as .iso files to my PC, so I don't need to have the install game feature...(until I buy a new game).
The only thing wrong with the NTFS format is that it can't install games right? If there's more I'd just find a program to format 232 GB into FAT32 which windows is incapable of.
EDIT: Also since I'm putting on files of a varying range between 0.32 GB (sim city creator) to 8.08 GB (Metroid Other M) (excluding Mario all-stars limited edition which is ridiculously 400mb!!!) I should use an allocation unit size of: 32kb right? intead of 4096 bytes.
The larger the allocation unit size, the faster the drive, but less space. I just want to know if this will affect how it works with my wii. If it does (affect if negatively), or if nobody knows, I'll just leave it at 4096 (default).
Well guys , Ive currently Purchased a 500gb WD Passport External 2.5" drive. And must say USB Loading is the way forward. Backing up my Originals was probably the best idea 'ever' A fair few are far to scratched and dont want them getting worse. So thanks guys for making such a Tasty GUI.
Anyway down to the nitty gritties. Ive followed the 4.2E to 4.2E Softmod guide here on site. And it worked a Treat. Then followed the NTFS + Wifflow Guide here on site worked a Treat until i decided i wanted to update my forwarder i uninstalled and reinstalled a new WAD. Which proceeded to stop recognising my Titles it recognised the drive was there just nothing in my WBFS folder. Luckily i keep a backup so restored them all using Backup Manager. Since then its been running perfect. Reinstalled all my DL discs like smash brothers Via Wiiflow as they cant be transferred for some reason.
Now since this sometimes when i click WiiMenu , via the home button in game , It comes to the WiiFlow loading screen then stops , and 'crashes' making a loud horn beep noise that plays continous until i manually shutdown. Any idea what this could be?
Also im using a forwarder . Its the Violet NForwarder58-WFBV for cIOSx 249 Rev19/20. And im using the r304-249.zip package on my SD card.
Also ive noticed WiiFlow is taking rather long to load at the start Is this usual?
Any other info needed just ask. I was thinking of going via a channel NOT a forwarder. Do all channels work with NTFS loading? Would you mind posting a link to a channel. If this is the wrong thread very sorry i HAVE used the search button , but found nothing about this problem. Thanks in advance.
http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...g-playing.html is the guide is used and its worked a treat up until now.
I've been using wiiflow 2.2 for a few days now and I find it just a little slow at loading, but the main problem is it freezes 1 out of 30 loads. Whereas the older version was fast, click on a game, click on play, boom loads no problem... wiiflow 2.2 would freeze while its about to start, WiiFlow (scrolling dot dot dot) then freezes it only happens a few times. I hope this can be fixed.
Just load wiiflow from your homebrew channel, that's what I do. If you are still intent on not loading from homebrew and want to load from the channel, make sure that the channel is the same as your wiiflow theme. For example: make sure that your wiiflow carbonix gets a wiiflow carbonix channel, not a violet channel. and vice versa.
Here's what I did:
1. Download the latest stable version of WiiFlow.
I'm using r304-250
Unpack the contents, [apps] folder, into USB HDD root folder.
2. Downoad 2.2-RC-1-(No-Dol).zip
Unpack the contents, [apps] & [wiiflow] folders, into USB HDD root folder.
3. Edit (using WordPad) [wiiflow.ini] in [apps/wiiflow] folder at the USB HDD and change all strings [sd:/] into [usb:/], then save it.
4. Follow Priiloader Loading Method
Copy WiiFlow Forwarder dol (I'm using StarNight.dol) into USB HDD root folder.
Boot Wii to PriiLoader by holding [Reset] button while turning on Wii, and from the PriiLoader menu choose [Load / Install File], then select the Forwarder DOL which you copied to the root of USB HDD.
Once this is done you can then go to the PriiLoader [Settings] menu and choose:
-----------------Autoboot: Installed File
-----------------Return To: AutoBoot
5. Eject the SD card, then power on Wii.
It will boot straight to WiiFlow on USB HDD without SD card needed. :011:
USB Loader Releases, WiiFlow (v2.2 RC-1) is capable (reliable) installing games into NTFS partition (look at "Install a game disc to a hard drive partition" comparison).:011:
I'm surprized Ithian said there isn't one to his knowledge when there's a thread on wiihacks about that very same thing. Wii back up manager.
I won't bother make wiiflow run from my USB, all of my wiiware and virtual console games are on my SD card.
I really hope this question is easy to answer and doesnt constitute a thread hijack as that is not my intention. I have read so many forums on CIOSs, drive format recommendations, WiiFlow recommendations and I seem to be going around in circles as to what the most stable set up is. Surely there must be a tried and tested FAT32 config that everyone agrees works fine or am I asking too much?.
I currently have 2 FAT32 partitions on a 640Gb 2.5 drive. The first is 4Gb and hosts the WiiFlow and system stuff. The remainder has all my backed up games under the wbfs folder. I've installed WiiFlow 2.2 249 (v301) RC1 with a channel forwarder. I have tried CIOS249 v17 through v20.
My main issue is the dreaded "Disc_SetUSB failed" message as well as the occasional forwarder launch that returns to the Wii Menu rather than starting WiiFlow.
Shud I be using Wiiflow 249 at all?. Some have suggested 222 is better
Shud I be using CIOS249 v20?. v19 seems the more stable but has its own incompatibilites.
Shud I be using CIOS249 base 38 or 57 (or other) and what is the real difference?
Shud I be using 2 FAT32 partitions or doesnt it matter?
Many thanks on behalf of my sanity.
1. Wiiflow 249 is just fine. The reason people tell you 222 is better is because using 249 slows down the game when you are using peripherals like the guitar hero guitar. Using 222 doesn't slow the game down.
2. I have no idea about the differences between v19 and v20
3. you need to use base 57 if you are going to play Call of Duty Black Ops
4. It doesn't matter. I use 1 partition. Because isn't using a folder to separate things enough?
