updating with an in-region game should work (here is a list with games and their update IOS Gamelist). but to be honest i only know that the way described in this guide does work.
but now i wonder how you could use bannerbomb without being able to enter the settings and go to sd card management.
nervmind, one of the game exploits will work on your wii. then run hackmii installer get hbc, use MMM to install systemmenu IOS and the systemmenu, 4.1 preferably
edit: the double channels can be deleted later either in wii channel mangemant or with any title deleter. (and yes it was that out of region japanese update)
Thanks for replying!!
Well, I gotta say I got a bit confused there...By game exploits, do you mean simply updating firmware via an in region game, or you mean softmodding the whole system via Smash Stack, Indiana pwns, etc?
All I want for the moment is to undo the semi brick by updating with a game. Can that be done without any prior rituals? XD I don't want to softmod unless it is totally needed, because this Wii isn't mine and I dont' want to mess with it more than enough :P
am afraid that once u updated the console with a disc, solving the semi-bricked status, u'll then lose the already available SOFTMOD.
double check before ur next move !
yeah game exploits to run hackmii and get hbc (its just so much easier when you can run MMM from it etc), indy, ssbb, yigooh, bathaxx (lego batman).
updating/changing the systemmenu in general should be done via a softmod and not via disc or online, in my eyes, and with a NAND backup around in case something fails.
edit: having priiloader (to block updates) and bootmii on that wii is very recommended, having the hbc on it for further trouble shooting/improvement of the wii won't hurt as well (you can drop the hbc out of sight on the 4th channel page for example)
Ok, so then it's more convenient to do the whole softmod process instead. Since it's semi bricked, the only way to go is a game exploit, just like you said. The problem now is, that because of the semi brick, I can't know for sure which firmware the Wii is running on. I have an original copy (ooh the irony) of SSBB, which according to the game list you posted earlier, contains the 3.1 update.
I popped it in the Wii, but didn't ask for update. Besides, the Wii has no SD icon, so I suppose its firmware is somewhere between 3.1 and 3.9.
Can SSBB or Twilight Princess exploits work on these firmwares? I researched a bit about Twilight Hack, but it sounds rather complex and I think it'd only be safe if I knew the firmware version.
Tried SaveMiiFrii to check the version, but can't get it to work :/ Any ideas much appreciated!! :)
check out the softmod any wii guide, linked below, covers everything you need,, twilight hack described etc.
follow it, includes the upgrade to 4.1 as well/should correct your error.
good luck for now, bed time, see you
-> guys in chat can help too
Ok then, I'll check that out. I'll update later, for now I have to give it a break too xD
thanks for helping!!
thanks for helping me to remove my semibrick :)
but how to update priiloader 0.4 to 0.6
I had a korean wii, softmod to 4.1u. A few days earlier i try to install ios that end up damaging neogamma channel.
so I followed the tutorials here, successfully re-softmod, and my neogamma channel works perfectly again... thanks Dogeggs.
but later on I discover that my wii got semi brick, i can't acces my wii setting (opera error).
when I choose to download files needed to softmod, I choose the PAL files. base on opinion that what I had is a korean wii, but I forgot that from the very first time I have it's already softmod to us. is that the reaseon i got semi brick?
if I download the ntscu file now, follow the tutorial again and install it. will it repair my semi brick wii?
That should do the trick. You can view the region settings in Muti-Mod Manager, syscheck, or any region changer mod 6 if your not sure what your region settings are.
