the wii is essentially a jacked up gamecube with motion controls and better graphics the Gamecube was almost twice as powerful as the PS2 the only thing that brought it down was it lack of DVD playback and also it's small disc size but many multiplatform games looked, sounded and played better on the Gamecube.
The wii is also about 2 times as powerful as the Gamecube but when compared to the Powerhouse consoles like the PS3 and 360 this is rather insignificant. For example games like the Revenge Of The Fallen looked and played well on the PS3 as well as the 360 but the wii version had numerous differences between it and the other console versions it had a dodgy camera system and the controls where really badly done basically it was a rush job which is what happens with most third party developers because they prefer shortcut methods in order to make their game on the wii which is why wii multiplatform games are so bad.
Nintendo, Capcom and some other groups manage to utlize more of the wii's potential if you look at games like Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, The Conduit, Twilight Princess and RE4 wii version then you can see some of the wii's true potential both in terms of graphics and gameplay yet these where mainly done early in it's lifetime the conduit was a more recent release which shows that with the right amount of effort not some rush job to make a quick buck wii games can look incredible.
The wii's full potential has not been utilized by any game so far and probably never will due to people constantly bashing it's graphics which will probably result in nintendo being forced to up the anti with it's next console and abandoning the wii
A look at both systems.
CPU / GPU / Memory
Wii - 729 mhz / 243 mhz / 24 MB - 64 MB (1TSRAM GDDR3) - 3 MB cache
Gamecube - 485 mhz / 162.5 mhz / 24 MB - 16 MB (ARAM) - 3 MB cache
Front-side bus bandwidth / main memory bandwidth / CPU DMIPS / cache
Wii - 1.944 GB/s / 3.888 GB/s / 1691
Gamecube - 1.3 GB/s / 2.6 GB/s / 1125
Texture cache bandwidth / framebuffer bandwidth / z-buffer bandwidth
Wii - 15.52 GB/s / 3.888 GB/s / 7.776 GB/s

So ya, Like I said before the cube and PS2 are close with the cube the clear winner and the Wii is only 1.5 times more robust than the cube.
are you kidding? the wii is extremely underpowered.

Nintendo2600 what your saying about the wii's power compared to the GCN and what im saying are not that different you are saying it's abour 1.5 and im saying it is twice as powerful but the big difference is between the Gamecube and PS2 as i said before the Gamecube strength lies in it's texturing abilities and it's speed which is why a lot of it's multiplatform games are superior to the PS2 versions simply because the PS2 cannot effectively do some of the things the Gamecube easily does like bump mapping and anti aliasing through hardware it prefers to stream everything.
There is a big difference between the best looking title on the Gamecube and the best looking title on the PS2, PS2 games are notorious for the amount of jaggies that can be seen on them compared to Gamecube look smoother while maintaining a high resolution even if you where to disagree with my statement about the Gamecube being twice as powerful as the PS2 based on it's specs and what it has done it is at the very least 1.5 times as powerful as it which makes the wii 3 times as powerful as the PS2 overall
i dont care how smooth or jagged it is, PS2 definatly has more details. also, never was comparing it to PS3 or 360, even though what you said about it is true.
