D2Pro9V2 3.4u ==>nsmb
I've been out of the mod scene for a while, and never an expert at it. I had a D2Pro9V2 but after my kids allowed an upgrade when inserting "Up" for the first time, my chip wouldnt play backups or originals.
I popped it out and plays originals fine. So I left it like that for months.
Now, I'd like to use the chip again. I bought the new super mario brothers and I believe that upgrades the firmware again?
My point? I'd like to know the right steps to get the chip working on my system again
To run backups without any soft mods the only thing you need is to make sure your D2Pro is up to date. Download the V1.7 utilities dvd from here;

I have installed a few of these chips and they run every game ran through the disk channel so far. The last one that I installed had Wii system ver. 4.0.
Thanks much for the reply.... an update... I actually found that only gamecube discs spin in the wii, with or without the chip.
Also, the lights do a quick blue to red (or vice veras) alternating flash when I when I power up, but I don't get the solid blue light.... or the solid red one for that matter. Thus, I cant use the utility disc.
Do I have any options?
The utilitie disk is based on the game cube format,
Are you saying that a 5.25 disk does not spin, but a 3.5 disk does.?.
Yes, exactly. The 5.25 disk does not spin, but a 3.5 disk does.
I really do not know what to tell you !:confused:
It sounds like the speed setting has been changed.
See if you can put utilities 1.7 on a 3.5 disk.
If you can get the utilities to run, you can change the speed setting.
The only other thing is that there maybe hair wrapped around the spindel.
NOTE: Wii disks usually spin at 6X and GC at 3X....
But Wii disks will work at 3X, and the video will be choppy...
I finally got around to picking up a mini dvd and burned the utilities to it. It ran fine and successfully updated the firmware. However, the unit will still not spin the Wii discs, just the smaller gamecube discs.
Also, the DSPRO9 chip does not stay lit red or blue. Just a quick flicker between the two colors when I turn it on and then no lights.
I really do not know what to say..
Maybe someone else can chime in and help..
Wow! I got the Wii discs to spin. After a couple of hours of tinkering, I found that the disc would spin if I gave it a little help with my finger. One it was spinning it was loud as hell. So I found that it was rubbing on a few of the parts that hold the smaller GC discs in place. Once I freed that up a little, it works fine.
So back to my original problem. The D2pro chip doesnt stay lit on blue (or red) and wont play backups anymore. The utilities loaded fine, not sure it that loads to the mod chip or to the wii itself, but it read from a burned mini dvd, so I would expect it is reading okay.
