Some of the installers ask to go online to download the correct installation files. The 4.1 SAFE updater will try to connect to the internet to download the files it needs to continue installation. Is the only reason your Wii isn't on-line is because you don't have a wireless router in the house, or because you don't have highspeed in the house? Casue you can invest in a 13 dollar Ethernet adaptor that will allow you to connect it through a hard line.
i have a 24mbit connection i dont run wireless thou,
but after a scan from the wii people accross the road from me run a secured wireless network so this afternoon ill ask them if i can borrow it to update my wii :)
ill report back how it goes as im confident enough to do this install.
I'm glad to hear about your confidence, just don't let your confidence be your downfall.
Please.....ANY questions whatsover, come back here and ask them. I or some other qualified person will be around to help you. Or if you would rather just deal with me [to avoid any confusion from someone who didn't read what we have already gone through], feel free to private message me anytime.

Yea that happens from time to time, as you've seen though if you re-install and/or update HBC, it fixes itself. Glad everything worked out for you, happy gaming :D
