bootmii vs preloader
can i just use bootmii for a reassurance, or will i not be able to recover with bootmii in case of a brick without a preloader? or does tham mean if i install bootmii as boot2 not ios then i dont need a preloader? also since its an older wii that means i should be able to install as boot2, correct me if im wrong but it sounds like only newer wiis have issues installing bootmii as boot2. i know its at least a 3.2 or lower orignal system, as i have updated it once and that was to 3.4 and that was well over a year ago, and the thing is probaly 3 years old or so.

The reason you would want preloader installed is because for one it blocks updates from discs. You have some other useful hacks as well like No health check ( you won't see that annoying screen anymore asking you to press A) , Region free channels-SD card menu
Allows you to boot channels from outer region from the SD card menu.
Remove NoCopy Protection
Allows you to copy any save file, whereas some were protected by default
There are more here.
Preloader/hacks - WiiBrew
I installed it and had no problems but you have to be sure to do the steps correctly.
what do you mean by "Remove NoCopy Protection"? without a preloader i can still play pal games on a ntsc system, thats within the usb loader correct? and cant i skip the disc updates simply by unplugging my wireless router? and lastly does bootmii work on 3.4u then? i dont care about playing anything other than wii iso's from a flash drive.

cant i skip the disc updates simply by unplugging my wireless router? That only stops you from updating through Internet you could still update from disc if you are using original or backups that have not been scrubbed to remove updates.
and lastly does bootmii work on 3.4u then? Yes bootmii will work with any system I believe. The only thing is if your system is newer then you would only be able to install bootmii as IOS.
i dont care about playing anything other than wii iso's from a flash drive. Then you don't have to worry about disc updates but who is to say a friend comes over and put an out of region disc and updates it then you would have a brick. Preloader is just a precautionary measure that is optional but it is a good one to have before you need it.
i dont have to worry about a friend comeing over and playing something cuz i have no friends lol well i do but noone comes over to hang out i am kinda antisocial. its just me the wife and the kid and im good lol. Are most scene iso's "scrubbed"? and if none of my aalready boughten games dont install updates i should be cool right? as once i have this stuff installed i dont plan on buying too many more wii titles....i have enough other systems to buy games for rofl. and lastly whats the chances i brick it doing bannerbomb installing some cios's and installing a usb loader? my wife and kid would be quite pissed.
Most scene ISO's are not scrubbed that is why they are 4.37 GB (4,699,979,776 bytes) . Once you download and install them on hard drive using WBFS 3.0 That program will remove the update if you have that option checked. Even if your original disc ask you to update just don't make sure you tell the wife and kid.
