started to read about chip for the wii and got som info to this site .
hav looked on some guides here and starting to like softmod more then chip becus i dont need to open the wii .
so i have some questions about softmod .
how safe is it to softmod a new wii with 4.2E
and how new games can i play on the wii after the softmod .
how do i block the shitty nintendo updates ?
can i still use the shop chanel and the other channels .
can i play online with my friends with non original games ?
think i got all of my questions :P
hope you all can get me on the softmod track :P
the only console i have softmoded is my old PSP :P
For blocking updates you can use startpatch (You need Homebrew channel)
StartPatch - WiiBrew
I have 4.1e so I don't know how to install homebrew on 4.2 but try this.
ps. If you can install bootmii as boot2, Do it!!!!
And make a nand backup with bootmii.
BOotmii protects you from 99% of all bricks.
ah so the nand backup almost works the same on the psp
how do i use a hdd for thi iso . think i got it right
i made a backup of my NAND now and is it good with 1 bad block ???
I made a NAND back up with 2 bad blocks and had no trouble using it for a restore. So 1 should be fine. I read on the link below that you can have up to 80 and it still work.
sweet . now i am trying to install my hdd to the wii .
now wen i try to start usb loader i get a black screen and the wiimote dont get enny conections with the wii but neogamma works
I have a nand backup with 18 bad blocks.
But bootmii copies the data on your nand.
The bad blocks have no data.
The wii puts no data on a bad block.
So if you load your nand backup into your wii, it puts all the data it copied from your wii back into your wii.
Nothing to care about.
It just works, no matter how much bad blocks you have.
ps. I have one of the early wii's (serial starts with LUH).
That's why I have so much bad blocks.
What kind of external drive do you use?
