hey guys need help,
running 4.2 upgraded from 3.2 with wankios upgrader, using corp 3.5 to run back ups with no problems until now,
can get avatar to run properly, crash's in second level just after blowing up some barrels, it does it on retail and backup in excatly same place, tried installing priiloader v2.0 but it came with IOS70-64-v6687 [Patched][FreeTheBug].wad and said had to be installed first, so did this and installed priiloader afterwards thing is after i installed the wad my disc channel wont accept backup anymore, and if i try to uninstall wad it crash's and wont boot out hbc, i've done nand restore to sort that out and reinstalled corp 3.5 but why doesn't avatar work?? all my others do, including new super mario, modern warfare, dark chronicles any sugestions or indeed fixes would be gr8fully accepted
ShadowSonic thank you, this guide worked for me. Just got a wii for my family for Xmas and can now enjoy the Wii fully!
Here was my experience so far:
I started with 3.4u and updated to 4.2u because the Wii would not read my SDHC. Followed the 4.2 guide and everything appeared to have worked. Unfortunately USB Loader GX and Neogamma will not read my external drive BUT Neogamma will read iso discs burned on DVD+R (Verbatim). Strangely, it wouldn't read DVD-R (Ridata) though. Funny, I guess. I figured since I bought it for Xmas it would most definitely have a new 3-2 drive but nope, it reads iso discs just fine! Guess I got lucky. Thanks for the guide, and for everyone else, happy modding and have a Happy New Year! :D
Bought new wii for Xmas
updated to 4.2 for SDHC card to work
4.2 cIOS Guide worked
DVD+R (Verbatim) backups work
DVD-R (Ridata) backups do not work
USB Loader GX and Neogamma USB loader does not work with my external HD :(
*EDIT My serial is LU6 in USA
I'm following the links to download the things I need, but they are all password protected?
The password is in the tutorial. Read it carefully!
Tried... and failed...
Ok folks... I'm no expert... but I have followed this guide to a T and failed. Started with a virgin Wii, updated to 4.2U (Yeah, I know, I should have done some reading before clicking yes on the update... but what's done is done.)
I then used the BannerBomb method of installing the HomeBrew Channel from the SD card. I then followed this guide, step by step, without error.
Results... I can launch both the Backup Disc Loader and USB Loader GX through the homebrew channel (I have not added these as Wii channels... though I would like to, if anyone is willing to help a newbie out with the process)... Backup Disc Loader leaves me with a black screen when I try and boot a backup disc...
USB Loader GX launches... and sits there and scans for a USB drive... if I haven't connected one... which, is to be expected... but, if I do plug one in (and granted, I've only tried this with one 2.5" portable usb hard drive... working on a second trial with a different drive here) I get an IOSxxx (forget what number exactly) error... loading IOS249... then it says something about working with a slow or difficult disc... says something about another IOS... and says reloading IOS222... and then hangs... I have to hold the power button down to restart.
I Have turned WiiConnect24 off... to prevent any downloads/updates and have gone through this guide twice. I will be going to Messie's guide from here... but just wanted to pass along my experience to those out there!
*** UPDATE ***
After formatting another hard drive and second install of this tutorial... I am up and running! USB Loader GX and NeoGamma both work. I have also added the forwarder channels for both so they now appear in my Wii channels. VERY cool! Thanks so much!
Thanx, Great tutorial although I think you should put in that bit about being able to skip the title db deleter step (thanks Yenracer :))
i cant get past step 4. when i load it up it asks if i wanna use IOS60 to install more IOS or install an IOS that accepts fakesigning. iv tried both and when i choose to use IOS60 it just freezes. with the fakesigning one it has an error. help please?
Hey just to make sure, i put the cIOS on the SD card...AFTER i installed homebrew channel?
For those guys with difficulties getting it to work, please read the first page carefully, print it out on a piece of paper and follow the instruction step by step (WORD by WORD). I've started with a brandnew 4.2U and it worked like a charm.
Well after finding this guide I got my Wii working with backups from USB Flash drive.
I had 4.2U on there and it was a virgin never hard/soft modded and all the other guides I tried failed.
