Thanks for the tip, but I have dowload this and extracted the files directly to my memory card and it extracts as follows: MplayerCE with 3 file in apps folder no files then Mplayer Ce once more with loads of files, so do I need to remove one or more of the folders and place the file somewhere else.
Cheers for your help,
find the folder called 'mplayer_ce', it has a lot of files in it....then copy that folder into the 'apps' folder on your sd card.
Or in other words just get the files into this directory:
X(X being the drive that your SD card represents):\apps\mplayer_ce\ then all the files go in there or to make it easier just copy the mplayer_ce folder to X:\apps\
Cheers guys, all sort now your help has been much apperciated.
sorry but do i install all these files? im looking at using the streaming option???

could someone tell me how to install the smb server as when i click any of the servers in mplayer i am getting an error?
First make sure the folder on your PC is shared with the network. It will assign it a default name which you might want to change.
In the Mplayer CE folder on the SD card there'll be a smb.conf file.
Then it's just a matter of editing the details to match your PC configuration.
#Max 5 samba shares (review menu.conf to add more samba browsing)
#no ip or no share means samba disabled
#It's important use quotes (") on shares with blank spaces, see example 2
#Samba share1 (smb1:/)
#Samba share2 (smb2:/)
Enter your PC Local IP, it'll not likely be 192.168.0.1 but something similar.
Enter your Share Name, noting that separated wrods must be enclosed with quotes.
Once you reinsert the SD card and launch Mplayer CE it will allow you to connect to the shares.
I use the Mplayer via smb alot for streaming video... and for what it is worth as far as using smb... v.62 is far more robust than v.7. The new caching scheme leaves alot to be desired (yes.. I know about the "A" to skip the caching when FForwarding or FR). I have played with the settings up and down (mplayer.conf, routers, wifi encryption, OS's, etc) and I still see a freeze from time to time. With the exact same setup... v.62 never misses a beat. I have seen this on other peoples networks as well... and when they go back to v.62... all is well.

But Mplayer by any means is a "Must Have" application. They have done an outstanding job.
