I was wondering the same thing about selecting that number in the beginning of the install - but I have an even worse problem!
When I run the installer it doesn't matter what I select (I've tried all combanations) once I select the cIOS Installers IOS Base the installer freezes and I have to hard shut down my console. I can't get this installer to run - I've tried two versions of the download (both had the cIOS installer v2, however, so this was seemingly to no avail.)
I ran an IOS downgrader and tried it again, same results...
My Wii IS connected to the internet VIA WIFI, so I know it's not an internet issue...
Any ideas? I've been fighting with it for hours and I've drawn blanks all around
Ok, not sure if this is your issue, every once in a while, when I change settings or play certain games with usb loader, it wont recognize my USb HD anymore.... Simple fix strangely enough, is to take out the SD card for a second and put it back in... that seems to reset everything, and viola' it finds my hd with no problems on the next attempt
This isn't my issue...at all actually, but thanks anyway! This tid bit might be good to know later on...
My issue is with Hermes' cIOS 222/223 installer - the installer freezes during the install at the point mentioned above. I can get games to run under Waninkoko's cIOS38 rev 13 with IOS249 using USB Loader GX, but I'm having the issue where I can't use a rockband instrument (in this case usb drum set) in this cIOS with the game loaded from the harddrive. I'm trying to install Hermes' cIOS 222 to use usb rockband peripherals, but the installer is giving me the trouble mentioned above...
Any ideas towards a fix for this? I'm still searching for things to download and things to try, so as I try things I will update..
The installer kept freezing until I unplugged EVERYTHING from the console before I ran it - GameCube memory cards, GameCube controllers, hard drive, usb drum set...
I tried running the game with cIOS 222, to no avail... drums still didn't connect.
installed cIOS 223 with IOS 37 with 35 as a base (as indicated by the instructions in this thread) and it works! Hallelujah!
I hope this helps anyone that can't get Hermes' cIOS installer to run... I'm off to play rock band!
sorry kiddo...but i got mine to work long before you did[not really long, but just being dramatic], like couple/few days ago. but thanks anyway though. my way[just clearing others understanding that the cIOS isn't mine] of installting cIOS 38r12 helped me out
when you downgrade to the 37/36 hybrid will it take away from my 38. and hurt the play on my other games..
Of Course not..... You will be running the game off of 222 & 223 - Nothing would hurt your original ios 36 and 37 -- The Hermes version just makes/modifies IOS 222 and IOS 223
and definatly wouldnt harm IOS 38 (Which is probably IOS 249, If I understand your post)
ok... so I did all the instructions as previous post told me to do, but now when I load up usb loader gx on cIOS 222 it doesnt even see the hd, so I have to select cIOS 249 ... and once in there I can select for the usb loader to go off cIOS 222 but the game doesnt give me the option of loading with cIOS 223 ?? did I do something wrong?
My only guess is that you are not running the latest version of the USB Loader - because having various cIOSes installed wont stop USB Loader GX from having those options appear as options.
Don't worry about having to start the USB Loader in cIOS 249 - I do the same thing. As it seems you found out in your post above, you can tweak the settings for how each game is launched inside the USB Loader by clicking the "Settings" option that appears when you select a game from the menu. You're in the right place and on the right track!
IF you have cIOS 222 properly installed it should still be able to run the game, although when this was the case for the usb drumset and mic still wouldn't connect under that cIOS. It seems that for some other people on this thread it did work, for reasons that are beyond my knowledge... that's just something to keep in mind as you troubleshoot. Given the above - try running the game under 222 just to see if you don't even need to fight with getting 223 working!
If you already have both 222 and 223 installed and it's not working and you need to try 223 and can't find the options to run it under 223 in USB Loader GX's settings as pointed to above, then again all I have to suggest is make sure you have the latest version of USB Loader GX installed (Sorry for the ugly run-on sentence.) You can download the latest version of the USB Loader from Downloads ?(USB Loader GX)?
If you are not a member of this thread and can't see that link, you can also google "USB Loader GX" and (at least as of today) that link is the first hit.
I hope this helps, Jagman, good luck getting rock band running..
I tried loading Rockband 2 with IOS222 as the default in my usb loader and starting the game with IOS223. still getting black screen.
what am I doing wrong?
