Need help and advise
Hi, (please forgive my long post)
My husband and I are setting up a Wii for our twin boys for Christmas and so glad we started this early! We are very grateful for finding this extremely helpful forum and this excellent guide. :D
We followed this guide to the letter (we have (or rather had) a virgin Wii -version 4.0U SN of LU718)
All went well except two things: part of Step 4 and part of Step 5c:
We do have the Wii on the internet using a wired connection with the Nyko Wii Connect. It was tested and successful. To be sure we also viewed the news channel and the weather channel. We then turned Wiiconnect 24 OFF and continued to follow this guide.
In step 4, we successfully installed the IOS60 patch, however, we were unable to update the system menu version to 4.1. It just froze, saying : Network Initilizing ..... -we waited over 15 minutes and nothing. We tried this step 3 times and ended up with the same result. ( Note: Not sure if this makes a difference but we had to install Bootmii as an IOS)
Are we to turn on Wiiconnect 24 to be able to successfully update to 4.1? We'd like to properly update to version 4.1 as per the instructions, but we're not able to.
We got out of trying to update to 4.1 by powering off the Wii and went on to step 5 because of what 5a explained.
In step 5- all went fine until we got to part of 5c:
The problem: c) Select 'system menu hacks' in the Priiloader menu, and enable "Block Disc Updates" and "Block Online Updates". Select 'save settings' and wait for confirmation message to display 'settings saved'.
(we were able to follow this part properly): Press B to go back, and enter Settings. Set 'Autoboot: System Menu' and 'Return:System Menu' using D-Pad, then select save settings. Press B to return to main Priiloader menu.
We were not able to do the first part of 5C as the options were not listed there
When we enter 'system menu hacks' we only have the following options:
Region Free Channels: (enable/disable)
Region Free Channels from SD: (enable/disable)
Region Free Wii Games: (enable/disable)
Skip Disc Update: (enable/disable)
Remove no copy protection: (enable/disable)
We could not enable 'Block Disc Updates' and 'Block Online Updates' - it's just not listed on the menu and we would like to do this step.
It shows we have IOS V60 System menu v417
Priiloader V0.3b (r48m)
(this is from what we downloaded per the instructions on this guide)
Can someone help us on how we can enable 'Block Disc Updates' and 'Block Online Updates' ?
Also, I believe the version of Neogamma installed from the instructions is possibly an older version and is why we could not load a certain game properly that is in PAL format (game is from in-laws that live in the UK) It's a Thomas Hero Game (not found in USA!) for our one twin son with Autism. Anyway, others have used Neogamma to load this game, but we could not. However, we were successful in loading the game with Configurable USB loader. Is there a way to update the version of Neogamma on our Wii ? If so how and without messing up our Wii?
I'm so sorry for all my questions... just want this done correctly and without causing problems on the Wii before our twins get a chance to play with it on Xmas.
As your Wii is a 4.0U, there is no compelling need to update to 4.1 as there is little to be gained from that update. Don;t worry about about updating to 4.1. To answer your question, however, WiiConnect24 OFF, Internet ON to connect to the updating server. If WiiConnect24 was left ON your Wii would have connected to the Nintendo server and been updated to 4.3-something you definitely do not want.
Priiloader-sometimes the hack.ini file does not download or extract properly into the root directory of your SD card. That has happend to you. Go HERE to redownload thecorrect Priiloader hacks.ini file and that should allow the hacks to be seen and enabled. A 4.0U is the same as a 4.1U Wii s choose the 4.1U hacks.ini file.
While the NeoGamma version here is a bit older, the only difference with the more current version is not one that has to do with Wii games, but address a GameCube issue. I suggest you reinstall NeoGamma and try again or just check the NeoGamma settings. A certain amount of trial and error can be needed to play some out-of-region games. Try different combinations of Force Video, Patch Video, and VidTV. For your NTSC Wii, set the Force Video to either Force NTSC or to Console-that works most of the time.
Best wishes to you and your twins. Hope they have a happy Christmas.
so im stuck on step 5!
i followed the guide up to this point and installed IOS60-patched.wad
then when i go to install preloader it tells me
priiloader system menu ticket not found
trying to read original ticket
unotherized to get ticket, is IOS37 trucha signed? aborting mission....
Are you sure you didn't skip step 3? Also, do you mean IOS36?
Hi is there any way to get this to work without having internet access on wii??
My wii doesn't have access to the internet.
First off, you really should get a different username. Some people (including me) could find it offensive.

no im pretty sure i didnt skip it. and no it says IOS37
btw this names is nothing to do with satanic, i've picked it for personal reasons :)
Post a system check. That would help explain your problem.
