Any way to recover data from a bricked wii?
So I've been trying to figure out how to run games from an external hard drive and I've been having some problems with it not wanted to detect my external hard drive. I tried insalling the CIOS before, but it would always get to the "Press A to accept or B to cancel" page and the wiimote would turn off and I had no choice other than to restart the wii. I've done this three or four times with no ill effect. I tried it again this morning and this time when I turned it off. Now It's dead.
I unplugged it and plugged it back in and the red standby light comes on, but when I press power the light changes to yellow then fades away. Nothing happens. The light stays off. If I unplug it and plug it back in then it will do this same thing. I'm assuming I've bricked my wii and that is going to be a separate issue (unless there's another way to fix this someone knows of).
*Edit* While playing around with it I found out I can still turn it on via a wiimote, but the wii reacts the same way. I'm not sure exactly how the software/hardware works, but how can it be bricked as bad as it seems to the point where it won't turn on, and yet still respond to a wireless signal?
The big question I want to know, is there some way to get all the data off of it? We were previously having problems with the wii reading game discs (which is what led me to install homebrew and get games off an external hard drive) so we went and bought another wii as a replacement. Being an idiot I was toying with this one before backing everything up. Either I need to figure out how to un brick it (unlikely) or is there a way to pull the data off the hard drive and somehow transfer it to the new wii?
