Having been a member of this site for a few years, I don't really like having to ask anything in the newbie section. Not that there's anything wrong with it; I just feel like I should have been active enough to know the answer to this.
Anyways, I've created a guide on how to boot Gamecube games off of a USB device using DIOS MIOS and Configurable USB Loader.
At the beginning of the guide, I explicitly state that I am not condoning, endorsing, or promoting piracy. I tell the user that I can not provide them with a game ISO and I can not tell them where to find one.
With that being said, would the guide still be okay? I did see a guide showing how to rip a Gamecube disc and use Devolution to load the game, which closes any hole for ISOs that the user doesn't own as Devolution forces you to have the disc in the drive the first time it's used. My guide doesn't take into account where the user gets the file from. It isn't endorsing or encouraging piracy, but it isn't preventing it either.
I have another question about the guide. I have the guide already typed and set up as an HTML page. Would I be allowed to link to the page or would I have to post the text itself? There are no ads on the guide page or on the website where it is hosted. The guide is separate from the website and is just barely relevant to the site, which was just a website I did in 2012 to write game reviews on.
I hope that a user will be able to address my questions. If the link to the page is requested, then I will provide it. I just want to be sure that I'm not going to break any rules to the site. I've posted on another forum (irrelevant to this one) where it was not made clear that my content was against the rules (provided a download link for a Mac utility), and I was banned.
We already have a Dios Mios guide which is kept current as new versions get launched and has been used by many people. I have a link to it in my signature. If you think that something is missing or may be clarified in a differnet way, we're open to suggestions, feel free to reply to the guide and give us your thoughts.
Thanks for your interest in helping out the forum! Currently we already have a Dios Mios guide, but if you still want to post yours for us to review, please do the following:
We ask that all guides be hosted on our site. Sucks because you will have to rewrite a few parts using vBulletin, but it is what it is.
Please post your guide in the tutorials submission section, located in the WiiHacks Tutorials section. There it will be visible only to you and Wiihacks Staff. This way we can discuss the tutorial with you in a private manner. If approved, we will enable it to be viewed by the public.
Look forward to reading it! :)
Edit: Typing on my cell takes forever lol. Llaffer is right, I was just offering another way of doing it. Either way is good with me :)
Thanks for submitting your guide. It will be reviewed by staff as time allows. Please understand we are all volunteers and are online at different times. Also please be aware that we are very strict and blunt about what we see as acceptable. There are guys here with years of experience in dealing with this stuff, so don't take it offensively if we ask questions or suggest something different. The end goal is for our site to have the absolute BEST guides around, so dont get your panties in a bunch if you get schooled on something LOL!!!!
