Can't get past bootmii after replacing my housing
So I bought a chrome housing for my wii. I disassembled my wii, then reassembled it in the new chassis. When I first plugged it in, the red light came on, as expected. When i pressed the power button, the screen flashed like it normally does when turning on the wii, the led turned green, as usual, and the disk drive and fan made their normal noises. Then nothing. No menu, and I couldn't connect any of my wii remotes. So I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and oddly enough, the led was yellow this time. I've had a wii long enough to know that the light is supposed to be red when you first plug it in until the time that you first turn it on, and after that it depends on your wiiconnect24 settings. So I messed around with turning it off and on a bit, and found that i could turn it on using the wii remote, but the remote wouldn't stay connected after that.
So this is where it gets weird. On a whim, I decided to put in an SD card with a bootmii folder on it, and to my surprise, bootmii loaded up just fine. I ran through some functions and they all seemed to work just fine. However, when I tried to go to the menu through bootmii it didn't work, (the screen just went black) and i got the same result when trying to go to the homebrew channel. So I tried recovering to one of my old NAND backups to see if that would fix the problem, but it made no change. At some point in the process, (I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was when i first booted bootmii) the light started turning red when i first plug it in instead of yellow.
I know at some point the red light would turn yellow for a fraction of a second before turning green as i turned on the wii, and I think it was only when there was no SD card. I tried to reproduce it just now though to be sure, and it goes straight to green either way.
So, is this a common problem when improperly reassembling a wii? Perhaps I put something back together wrong, or caused some kind of software reset? most likely it's something that is interfering with the boot process, seeing as I can get bootmii to come up, but nothing further, and rewriting the NAND doesn't help, Right?
I appreciate your help guys, thanks!
