Trying to redump my DS games and saves because a few of them seem to have become corrupt. The problem is when I use NDS Backup Tool and smallftp to transfer the Roms and saves it tells me it cannot connect to the FTP server and I need to check the INI file. I have checked the ini file and the ip and port numbers are correct, I've also told my firewall to allow the program to communicate. Does anyone know of a better (easier) way? I swear this worked last time I did it. I don't know what's changed since then...
Do the ports it uses need to be forwarded, and if so, are they still forwarded ?
I'm not sure...admittedly I don't know much about routers lol. It appears to be using the same port as other programs I have, how can I tell if I need to use another port and which port I should use?
router/firewall config is only needed if you have an FTP server on your network and you want to allow connections from outside of the network to access it.
If you are trying to FTP to an external server, or are connecting to your own server on the same LAN, you shouldn't have to mess with port forwarding.
So then FTPing from my DS to my laptop I shouldn't do anything with the ports?
Edit: I give up....I've tried 4 different guides to rip the saves via FTP, I have reached the conclusion it can't be done. I've only gotten half my game saves to backup via EZ Flash 3in1, the others give an error and when I try to use another program to get the saves via smallftp it just sits on "connecting to FTP please wait...." Never connects.
Sucks too...I was really looking forward to getting my Super Mario 64DS save to play on my AceKard :(
Edit: turns out I'm just an idiot...I was typing in my IPv4 gateway, not my IPv4 Address lol. It's working now, and to my delight it can backup my NDS game Roms as well (some became corrupt a while back).
