It just means that your exact drive hasn't been tested, or has never been reported by anyone as working or not.
If another similar model does work, it's likely that yours will, but doesn't guarantee success. Give it a try and if it does, report back that it does work and it can be added to the compatibility section.
To be completely honest, it's generally the enclosure ("controller") that governs whether a drive will work with the Wii or not --- not the drive itself. It has more to do with the USB to SATA circuitry, design, and implementation than anything else.
Let me give you an on-the-mark context. The drive you cited above from the compatibility list DID WORK for this user when he used a different enclosure/controller. See this post as proffered by that user who submitted the drive to the list.
Well, I like to think of myself as computer smart but ^^; This stuff is going over my head now... I will just have to test it out and see for myself. If it works, I'll post it on the thread and well if it doesn't I guess I'll say it doesn't so they can add it to the list.
Honestly, I am getting a little confused with all this stuff and I am trying to google a little to try to enlighten myself but it isn't helping much. ANYWAYS, I guess I will be removing all of my data from my Toshiba Hard Drive and then try to figure out the whole... Partitioning thing and try to figure out how to take one of my games and turn it into a Iso or something... Not sure (haven't read much into it yet) so, I'll report back once I have it working I guess or well not working if it doesn't.
Thanks again ^^!
I have edited the Compatibility List to address that particular drive's attributes (to benefit the next user so to speak).
Okay I should have asked this BEFORE I started to install a game from disc to my usb...
Sense I have already modded my Wii, which appears as if I did so correctly... Do I have to worry about Bricking my wii now? Like... If I don't delete or touch system files...
If all I do is install a game, play the game, touch nothing else and don't update.. Am I safe?
right now I am installing Okami to my Usb flashdrive but it is slow xD I'd guess it'd be slow anyways but worth it at the end.
Edit: ALSO! I think my wii wont be able to actually rip Disks if I read right, it is a newer one with wifi (black wii) I think that is why my game is still at 0% xD But if it doesn't do anything I'll do it on my computer I guess
If the disk is a normal game disk, the system will read it just fine for you to use the USB Loader's install functions to install it to the hard drive.
Newer Wiis cannot read backup media. We don't support piracy, so we want you to own the disks that you install on the USB drive. :)
Hm... Well maybe I just didn't give it enough time or something because it was at 0.0% for ages lol... 5-7 minutes so I decided to quit it before I brake something xD Well thats what I thought atleast.
Okay so I have a new problem... I get the same thing people are getting the whole... Exception (DSI) Occurred.. In the spoiler is where you'll find the link to the thread someone else got this error for.. They had to do something with the Meta.. changing it so that it no longer had no iso reload or something.. I don't know what I did... I installed everything correctly like the Mod ANY wii guide said. It was playing perfectly... Then I put MMM in the app folder and added a wad folder in the root of the sd card. Once I did this I altered the meta in the MMM so it woudln't go online because it causes crashes when you don't have internet... Well, I ran trying to install a wad and it said it didn't work or something so I decided to say nvm to the wad manager and removed MMM and wad from the folder. I then tried loading wiiflow I believe that was to take the games from my CD to the USB I was going to do that again and when I did try I got the DSI thing... then I went to the other apps and they do the same :/ Homebrew channel opens correctly but if I try to run the apps from it, it does the same thing DSI error and sends me back to the main screen of the wii... What the heck did I do? I didn't do anything really.. I don't believe.. I read you can remove the apps from the app folder and its okay :/ meh
Addition: I can play normal games from the disc channel but all my homebrew apps do not work :/
So, I did a little searching... Apparently this is caused by a nono external harddrive too? Or something....I took it out and now I will be trying to see if a different usb will work better >.< I don't understand why a External Harddrive that was working before installing MMM would... not work after O_o
Addition: NOPE same thing happens with a different usb drive... Not sure what the heck happened.

Can you try that again using somethign that will paste in a sane manner? I think the guide gives you a suggestion for which program to use to open the file.
