Wii DVD drive scratches discs in pattern
Sorry for creating another thread. I wouldn't have if I could edit thread titles.
I recently replaced my Wii's disc drive to fix the noise and disc reading problems. My new drive plays games fine, but every time I put in a disc, it leaves four evenly spaced, arrow-shaped scratches in a specific pattern on the outer edge. They do not rub off and are pointing inward. I sometimes got one of these arrows from my old drive, but now I get four and they appear every time. Strangely enough, this only happens on single-layer discs; dual-layers like Brawl and Xenoblade are unscathed.
Any way to fix this beyond trying another replacement drive? Could it be loose screws or parts? Drive need cleaning? Would resting the system vertically instead of horizontally help? Thanks.
I don't want to hear any "just hack your Wii and play your games off a hard drive, man" replies. That's more trouble than it's worth and I don't want to risk bricking the system. I will be getting a Wii U sometime anyway.
