Look- it is really simple.
The DM guide refers to the possibility of "Losing Ability to Play Retail Discs".
There is nothing about loosing the possibility to play the back up disks.
If that's the case the should be the way to play the disk back ups in addition to the USB back ups.
There been some responces with installing the MIOS v10 and reinstalling the DM 2.10.
But that again was in the reference to "Losing Ability to Play Retail Discs".
Hope this explain my problem
Ok, but haven't several people explained you will lose the ability to play backup discs?
If you have a backup disc then just copy it to your USB drive if you want to play it. But it was stated pretty clearly, you have to choose (unless you go over to the Devolution thread.....)
A couple of people sugested to do it by installing the MIOS v10 and reinstalling the DM.
And it would help if the DM guide would state that playing the disk back ups feature is not supported.
I see no one suggesting that and I see at least 4 or 5 posts saying you will not be able to play backup discs......
You are probably right that should be stated in the guide.
Considering that most, if not all, of the staff do not advocate the use of backup disks in general (we suggest USB loading), it seems moot to point it out in EVERY SINGLE GUIDE!!!
If you want to try to get backups going, start a new thread. This thread is to get DM working. If you are trying to get DM working, then you shouldn't need backups anymore anyway.
Here is one #2478 from "llaffer":
"If you're trying to use disk backups, then you'll want to install the base MIOS v10 (linked in the DM thread) and use a disk loader such as neogamma. There is likely another guide for that somewhere on the site if you search for it."
There was another one from "candylove" on the same subject.
Right but the part about reinstalling DM was only in your mind. He was basically telling you this was the wrong guide for disc backups.

Enough of this. Thanks for helping to figure it out.
Is there a way to send a sugestion of updating the guide to who is in charge?
Not really sure what's going on with you zusfrid, but if for some reason you insist on playing Gamecube games via optical (DVD media), how about instead look here.
All it takes is to add one line to the DM guide:
"The feature of playing the back up disks is not supported".
End of the story.
